Who is that "Fred" guy

and why does he want to be treasurer?

It'll be my 3rd term. I'm doing it to provide some continuity, and because I'm an old retired guy and have the time.

I've run the El Paso County Detention Center kitchen and inmate store for a profit with a budget over a million dollars 20 years ago, with 12 paid employees, and 40 trustees to account for. I have a masters education in chemical engineering, including engineering economics, which near as I can tell, is the equivalent of a BA in business. :) I was more than prepared to provide spreadsheets quarterly of inventory and cash flow, but no one on the BOD was interested, or maybe didn't have Microsoft Office on their computers. :) It really isn't necessary, but, hey, I used to spend a lot of time on spreadsheets, and kinda of like it. So anyway, I do have the technical qualifications to be treasurer.

I do it because no one else stepped up at the time, and it needed to be done. I have managed to arrange 4 COfests, and Flores and I opened the chapter checking account. I haven't got the chapter store online, to sell all the damn t-shirts we have, and that's on me.

The issues that I see, are 1. to transfer the checking account to a bank that doesn't cost us as our current bank does, and 2. to generate more interest and participation in chapter events. The bank thing takes hours, and it's hard for El presidente to find that time during business hours. Increasing participation, honestly, I don't know. Sales are not my thing.

I've been on here so long, I forget that not everyone is familiar with my Jeeps. I have a 90 XJ Laredo, that I bought in 92. From front to back it has:

Front: An Offroad Armor winch bumper with a Smittybuilt winch with poly line, 2 3w LED daytime running lights, KC driving lights on the stinger, and 10W LED driving lights in the bumper, mounted using the stock towhook reinforcements, Hella H-4 headlights with fancy bulbs, and a homemade wiring harness, Optima yellow top, Homemade battery cables, 2/0 with military clamps, battery desulfurization gizmo with solar panel input for when I don't drive it regularly, high output coil with adapter made by Jim K.(only one on the planet), 4-hole matched injectors, bored throttle body, homemade intake adapter, fancy air filter with heat dam, Mopar/Mike Leech header with ceramic coating and a 2.5" exhaust to go with it, Open 2-row Performance radiator, imitation flowkooler water pump from Amazon, aluminum overflow bottle, summit racing oil blow-by bottle, air horns, 88 non-disconnect HP Dana 30 with 297 shafts, 33" MTR's on aluminum wheels with 3.5" backspacing, trimmed fenders with stock flares, 4.11's, E-locker, 3.5" RE springs with 1.75 inch spacer, Bilstein shocks, RE adjustable lower arms, JKS adjustable upper arms, TNT trackbar, JKS tierod, stock drag link, JKS disconnects, MORE motor mounts, Tom Woods front drive shaft, u-bolt yoke.

Mid: 241 J transfer case, 95 AX-15 with external clutch cylinder, Hurst shifter, JKS crossmember, D&C roll cage via YellowHeep, $40 stereo from amazon, Back up camera in rear view mirror, 97+ electric mirrors with homemade switch box, electric speedo to go with 241, replaced infrared remote for door locks with a radio version, yep, they still work, no rear seat, Sony explode amp, RF 6" speakers in hatch, upgrade speakers in door,(amp and speakers are known as a Hearing Aid), added fuse block, relays, and primary wires for accessaries, air compressor with solenoid and button for horn and gauge, air tank, homemade cover for rear seat, reduction for air locker in rear with pneumatic switch,

Rear: TW rear drive shaft, Dana 44, 4.11's, Tera-locker, rotated spring mounts and shock mounts, 4.5 inch Big Offroad leafs with JKS shackle, homemade lowered bumpstops, Bilstein shocks, Tomken gas tank skid, Tomken rear bumper. tire carrier fabricated from a Mopar 90-96 tire carrier and a Ruff-Stuff hinge with an adapter made by me with welding from Flores, Steel rear light boxes with LED's, LED back up light.

And then there is the 97 that my son drives. Some suspension mods for 31's and more sound mods since he plays the bass in "We Are Not a Glum Lot." :)

What are some of the things you would like to see happen in the chapter, over the next two years?

Do you think we have missed opportunities with our bias toward the "sport" aspect of our vehicles?

Do you mean the emphasis on off-roading as opposed to daily driver/just liking the XJ/MJ?

I pretty much agree with Justin on the future of the club. Fall Fling in Moab seems to attract a goodly amount of people from everywhere all the time. Moab offers a huge variety of cool wheeling in a small area, relatively, which doesn't seem to be the case in CO. I do think we need to pay attention to the advise I got from Goatman, as far as attracting people from California. He said he is most interested in scenic trails rather than challenging. Whether that reflects all of the Cal bunch or not, I don't know. I do know we haven't had anyone from Cal in Buni the last few years. We do get a mid-westerner or two fairly regularly, which is good.

I'd really like to see the chapter involved in that racing thing that races your basic junkers, like the 24 hours of lemons. I think that would be fun, and provide another outlet for the group. A lot of the relationships in the group started with getting together to work on someone else's junk.

Off-roading in the sense that picking a harder line or breaking parts is the emphasis, as opposed to using our vehicles to enjoy the outdoors, and/or get places on time.
