and why does he want to be treasurer?
It'll be my 3rd term. I'm doing it to provide some continuity, and because I'm an old retired guy and have the time.
I've run the El Paso County Detention Center kitchen and inmate store for a profit with a budget over a million dollars 20 years ago, with 12 paid employees, and 40 trustees to account for. I have a masters education in chemical engineering, including engineering economics, which near as I can tell, is the equivalent of a BA in business.
I was more than prepared to provide spreadsheets quarterly of inventory and cash flow, but no one on the BOD was interested, or maybe didn't have Microsoft Office on their computers.
It really isn't necessary, but, hey, I used to spend a lot of time on spreadsheets, and kinda of like it. So anyway, I do have the technical qualifications to be treasurer.
I do it because no one else stepped up at the time, and it needed to be done. I have managed to arrange 4 COfests, and Flores and I opened the chapter checking account. I haven't got the chapter store online, to sell all the damn t-shirts we have, and that's on me.
The issues that I see, are 1. to transfer the checking account to a bank that doesn't cost us as our current bank does, and 2. to generate more interest and participation in chapter events. The bank thing takes hours, and it's hard for El presidente to find that time during business hours. Increasing participation, honestly, I don't know. Sales are not my thing.
