white deposits on spark plugs?

ok,i have seen oil deposits and plugs burning to rich,but I have never seen white on the electrodes of plugs. what does it mean? this is for my 1992 4.0.

Are you sure its not tan or gray?
White,I believe,is an indicator of running lean/hot....
Overheating:incorrect heat range, bad exhaust or exhaust restrictions, like the catalytic converter, or overheating of the engine. The spark plug will be chalky white and sometimes have blisters or discoloration on the spark plug core and or the electrode.

The white is when the carbon burns to ash. Depends on which type of driving you are doing. A constant speed at or near peak torque runs the motor fairly lean. It can run lean again at high RPM's (run out of fuel).

After many months of playing with plugs, I did find a way to prevent the white deposits.

I cleaned the plugs in a plug cleaner, then parked the Jeep.

When I checked them again 3 months later, they were still spotless.

I recommend this procedure for anyone worried about deposits on plugs, regardless of color.
