I'm trying to get a little more bass out of my stereo, so I already got a place to put 2 10 inch subs. Does anyone here currently have any subs in their xj? WHat brand do you have? I'm not sure which audio brand makes good subs, just looking for a little help here.

I was thinking any of the first 8 on this pageEtronics .

Thanks for any help,

looking at those subs & your budget just get the best single 10" you can. It will add more than a little bass, be louder & cleaner than twin cheapo's.

Good brands: Phoenix Gold, JL, Kicker, Alpine, Hertz, MTX, Orion, the list goes on.

Remember, subs need a good enclosure and suitable amplifier.

I would get a set of Rockford Fosgate HE2's. I have 2 10"s mounted isobaric is my F-150 KR and I love the way they sound. They fire so crisp. They get loud but they never lose their great quality sound.

there alot of things to look at what makes a good sub I have had about 4 differnt sets of subs in mine. Right now I am running 2 12 inch RF He2s and they are great. Make sure to get a sub with a big magnet low watts req. and the right box for the sub. I can get very in detail and dont really feel like typing it all out. Usally if you buy in a store you get ripped off so I suggest getting them off the internet.

Go cheap on the amp. I've got an offbrand, name is Pyramid, do an internet search and you'll find them. The amp works fine, I got a whole setup of a twin 10" box for maybe $50 (same brand), get the amp for about $60. You'll blow the stock speakers in the box in about a month, just drop some good high quality speakers in their place and you're all set.

If you really want performance build the box yourself out of solid wood (not fiberboard), you will get a much more rich sound, forget plexiglass and the like, that's just for ricers who don't know any better (plexiglass doesn't make good sound).

Alright, I know my budget is low but I am trying to get a decent pair of 10 inch subs for around $50(on a high school budget). I know the box is supposed to be built to specs with the sub(s), but I found a deal on a dual 10 inch box that I couldn't pass up. I know what amp I want, it is a 600 watt Legacy with Remote Control Bass Boost that can be mounted away from the amp(which is nice). So over all I want 2 600 watt(about) 10 inch subs for about $50 that would sound beter than those crappy boxes at PepBoys.

Thanks for the help, maybe I'll just have to splurge on the subs a little. :D

There was someone on JU selling a JL audio powerwedge box (2 10s) I am currently running this along with a JL Audio 250.1 (250rms in one channel) and it does more than everything Ill ever need...All I can say after working in the audio industry for 10 years dont skimp on the amp the only thing that blows speakers is distortion(sp?) not power not volume just the amp inability to control the driver....Look for a amp designed for just subs itll have a higher damping factor(control at lower freqs) the higher the better as most amps today have really low distortion anyway its all about control especially at high volumes...

You can do this 2 ways just keep upgrading over time (way expensive) think inchitis or save up some green and do it the right way and spend a little more upfront and save a lot later...You should be looking for a amp that has a dampning factor of at least 250min more like 400 plus....Check around here and JU there are a lot of people going hardcore no doors no tunes needed...Personally Id grab the 2 10s powerwedge(if its in good condition), get a good monoblock amp(with crossover) and call it done...

Ps. dont forget good wiring (4gauge to the amp should be good and fuses up front next to the battery and next to the amp) for safety...
luck
