I just found out that my pressure in the rail is dropping when the engine is off. So i am going to get a new fuel pump. I am going with either OEM dealer pump or havana auto parts (NAPA). Any Recomdations?

Thank you, but i think if i am doing it i will just go ahead and do it new. I am doing an engine swap probably sooner than later and i would rather not have to think about the rear while i have the front torn apart.

Why not just buy a new regulator. About $75 from the dealership.
I was thinking about that. The only reason i want to replace the whole unit is because i would rather not have to go back and drop the tank again, and it seems to me that if the regulator went bad that the pump is not far behind it. I can also hear the pump run if i put my ear against the tank.

I have had a fuel pump go out on me, and this seems to be the warning sign.

I was running carpetless in my red XJ, and without that carpet in there you could hear the fuel pump when you turned the key from the driver's seat, and I never had any fuel pump issues. Seems to me that if you put your ear to the tank, you're gonna hear that pump regardless of whether its good or bad.
