where did all the retarded ugly cages come from?

Not everyone appreciates my FSJ or POS lil German car, but I love them.

hhhhhmmmmm....I wonder what a cage would look like on the 928?
 
I like the orange one too. Anyone ever see a chopped 4 door yellow XJ with a exo and an internal cage? The cage was well done with the rear tubes terminating in the bed where the hatch used to be. I think the guy's handle was "goatman" I'd like to see his pics again.

Ummm , yea that fits in this ugly cage category also. I don't understand why people don't put at least some kind of thought and plan together before they just start adding pieces of poo pipe and welding it all together.

Here is a shot of my cage , its all internal and 8 points . Every part of the cage ties into the unibody reinforcements along with the nerf bars . Granted it looks a little funny now with the dash out . But this was still a daily driver when the cage was built .

Mine is not "Poo Pipe" either. It is 1.75" x .120 wall DOM, and it is very solid. Ties into the unibody in several places, as well as my Rock Sliders (which are tied into the rails and pinch seam), front bumper that has a better approach angle than most other bumpers I have seen (and it catches about 6 or 7 bolts on each side), as well as my rear bumper/tire carrier with unibody tie ins. Trust me it is solid. The guy who built mine builds fully custom tube chassis for rock crawlers.
 
i really like the way mud freakin cage was designed being tight with the body, so we built mine sorta towords his specs. Keep in mind mine is not done, just had to get it ready for a race and it passed its test when i put it on its lid. still adding 2 more sticks to the cage and doing all of my triangulation. Here are some pics. the upper halo is all one stick

I've kinda stopped working on my cage right now but it something I have been planning for two years. I wanted something small that doesn't hang out there like a full exo but I wanted some protection along my rain gutter for sliding and leaning into trees. I dont have much done but its a start.

Sits down on top of the rain gutters

i know, but srsly you wouldent say hooray if someone brought you a beer? It's actually what makes amazing welds from partially ok welds. Of this I'm certain.
