Come on, who else would have the fore thought to do this and actually take pictures. 2 guesses as to what we are actually doing.

And those are quality Harken blocks with 5/16 Spectra :greensmok
I don't skimp.

This is SeansBlueXJ's rig by the way.

Hmm... Are you sure that's strong enough? It's only rated to like 4500-7500 lbs depending on who's braid your running... :D

I had to edit my post, I forgot about the high strength braids... Not sure which you're using... :laugh3:

And I was going more by climbing standards. Since it's only one routed through the blocks there's no redundancy, it would only need to fail in one place anywhere in the line to be a complete system failure. :lecture: :D

Oh my god....I think my brain just went into complete system failure....

Egon, Rob seems to think your climbing up that D30 axle.... dude, be careful man, if that line breaks ANYWHERE you might take a mighty plung a whole 8" to the asphalt...

Your trying to get the trackbar bolt back in. I usually employ the "hook the steering up and turn the wheel" method, but hey, your way looks way cooler than that.

A.

Yale's Maxibraid is rates at 9800# in the 5/16 flavor. That's without a cover though.

wow, nice work! by the looks of it the jks trac bar is intact and installed, however it looks like the drivers side lower control arm is not! my guess is trying to get the damn thing lined up so you can reinstall it?

If you think that's scary im not even going to get into how we compressed the springs. God if we actually didnt get stuff done I would say it was all redneck mechanics.

So, having any luck with that death wobble case you were telling (stumping, really) us about at NACFest?

That would be my death wobble! And we have finally cured it. Aparently a set of stock uppers and RE super ride fixed lowers gave me just a small bit too much of caster angle. um yeah it was around 10* or so. Adjustable uppers later and we have that all fixed. And I probably have the most built 2.5" lift in all of NAC. Now to just get the Old Man Emu rear's in and get rid of that bastard pack. My thanks to anyone who's brain Matt picked on my behalf.

Heh heh, 10*.

Try being on 4.5" with Adjustable lowers correct for the lift size and stock uppers!
:O

Glad to hear the wobble's gone - now you can get the thing out on the roads/trails.

You running 30s like I am?

I actuall have a set of half used Perelli Scoripon ATS 31's on loan from Egon for now. Looking at mabye getting the Kumho Road Venture in 31's. Nice price point and good reviews from what I an find.

I have on occasion thought about running 31s, but a couple things are holding me back for now:

1. My Toyos are only a couple years old, and don't have much in the way of miles on them (not a DD anymore). Being the cheap bastard that I am, I didn't go to 30s until I wore out my last set (P225s), and would like to get my $$$'s worth out of these first.

2. With the stock 3.55s still in my axles, I'm concerned about it being too much of a dog on the highway when I take it to work (snowy days, for example). Yes, I could go to separate street/wheeling tires, but I don't have a place to put them and swapping them around would be a major PITA.

3. I keep hearing that you need at least 3" lift or fender trimming to clear 31s if you flex up a lot. I like my body too much to hack on it (rear quarters are another matter due to rust), and the current height is still accessible cleanly in work clothes.

Maybe down the road a little I might reconsider, but for now I want to see just how far I can go with what I've already got. After all, isn't that half the fun?

1. dont blame you there.

2. your only talking a half an inch out from the axle diffrence, i dont think that's a big deal eitho way, mabye 33's would be.

3. see #2 and it's sitting at 2.5" up front and will be 3" in the back soon on mine.
