What would you buy under $3k as a DD with potential?

I need something to get to school and back, but I'd like it to be somewhat fun and have potential to be awesome! I was thinking...wrangler, mustang 5.0, z28 camaro...I'd love a wrangler cause its top down cruisin in the summer, 4x4 in the winter and they're solid trucks. But I used to have a 01 mustang gt vert and I'd love to get back into the american muscle car scene...I dunno any suggestions/opinions? PS if anyone has anything cool they're trying to get rid of for under 3k let me know!

Suzuki X-90, definitely. It's basically a Vitara underneath, so there's some potential there for serious modification. Perfect for shuttling back and forth between the World Bank and modelling shoots as well as tearing up the trails.
