What was done to YOUR rig(XJ/MJ) today MECHANICALY????

Thanks Mike. Pulled off all that weatherproof that was put on wrong and found a little rust where it had been catching water. Not much but it has to be fixed. Oh well could be worse.

tuneup parts showed up last week, brake parts are showing up friday/sat so as long as its not raining, im going to go pick up a new set of lugnuts and start working on tearing down the front brakes saturday until the new ones show up and get the tuneup done.

ill also go through and nut and bolt the whole thing again since ive driven it a couple hundred miles since putting it all together just to make sure everything is tight.

if i get all that done saturday im going to try and drive it to the beach.

Did the tune up and the brakes yesterday. Plug wires were awful. Plugs looked bad, cap was corroded and the rotor looked scorched.

Engine runs really smoothly now. Go figure!

The brakes are great. It actually stops now. The power stop carbon ceramics work great. Driving it around last night to dinner the radiator cap started spewing so I stopped and grabbed another. Fine after that.

Taking it to run errands today too and if it works out ok im driving it to the beach tomorrow.

Put new wheel bearings on one side of the d44. Forgot my caliper at home...

if someone wants an alternative to the expensive brake options out there. rock auto had all the same parts for 200 shipped. centric premium rotors, centric calipers, and powerstop carbon ceramic pads. after having to do a couple emergency stops on the road trip to the beach and back, im a fan of those powerstops. i am actually looking at getting a set for my GTO.

And finally the payoff.

first time leaving houston with it since building it. made the drive just fine. was a bit low on coolant after we left the beach and made it to my friends new house to check it out. we filled it up and burped the system and my dumbass didnt secure the radiator cap 100% before leaving. got to the gas station and it spewed everything out again. so my wife and i refilled it, reburped it and i secured the cap properly and drove the rest of the way home. ran without the AC on just to minimize heat. sun was going down so it was cooler out. downsides of the drive, my power seat stopped working, im guessing when i got water in the cab. ill address that this week hopefully its just a popped fuse. fuel consumption. thing was getting single digits. it wasnt liking trying to hold OD with the converter locked at 65-70 (rpm was around 1600-1800 so i had to keep it in 3rd.

oh yea, the AC, works great now that the alternator is working correctly. funny how that works.

Nice cup holder, LOL.

Rebuilt front drive shaft, trying to "home" balance it. Rebuilt front diff in prep for lockers and gear upgrade.

cleaned out and scoped out rear diff in prep for locker and gears. The 8.25 looks good for 278k, will be upgrading it to 29 when the locker goes in. Also rebuilt the rear driveshaft as well.

Redid the rear drums.... May they suck, little pieces floating around in there causing issues.

Gotta get everything ready for gears and 33" this month then lockers in Feb.

Ordered the brakes for my 8.8

Ordering the truss for the 44 front tomorrow.

Planning to weld the mounts on the 8.8 this weekend, test fit, then paint and install next weekend

now that the jeep is mostly reliable, its moving out of the way and GTO work can commence.

sorta glad to be wrenching on something other than the jeep to be honest.

new front lower control arms going in, raising the coilovers and swapping the rear diff.

Freakin ole jeep is dripping oil again! Thought I had her beat...guess I will have to crawl under her and re tighten all the oil pan bolts and check it all out, ugh. Hopefully it isn't the rear main. Not as bad as it was before but I perfer my cars not to leak at all. Need to change the oil anyway had some seafoam in it for the last couple hundred anyway.

Trying to decide whether to trim my fenders and lift it, or trim and monstaline later this month...I guess I at least know either way a trim will be done. Decisions, decisions.

Had another brake knocking noise again on the front drivers side late yesterday, as always, so bad I was afraid to drive it, and this time all we could find was a 3 month old broken anti rattle clip again top side.

Then we discovered the 30 year old (still good) steering stabilizer shock had no bushings left on either side. Rubber bushings died in 30 years but not the SS shock, go figure. Now I need two bushings, or a new SS shock. Pulled the old one off for now, drives and steers fine with out one, up to 35 mph even on a power hard turn, and no more rattles. Makes me wonder if I really need one???

Made my new starter and battery ground cables from 2/0 AGW welding cable I had left over from wiring my winch. At work for the next week away from home so installation will have to wait until I get back home.

Working on the 8.8 swap

The truss is too big.

Anyone have a cutting torch I can borrow?
