What was done to YOUR rig(XJ/MJ) today MECHANICALY????

Commute went well. Heard the stock electric fan kick on for the first time in a few years. Picked up the new temperature sender for the gauge in the dash. Will install tonight when the jeep doesn't feel like the heat of a thousand suns.

Sender was in, then I over tightened it and it broke off. So no temp gauge for me until I get that extracted from the head, which doesn't look like it could be done without pulling the head.

You could leave it and tap a hole in the cover for the termostat near the sender the computer uses.

I'm liking this idea.

Or use a 3/4-1/2" threaded female pipe T, in the always flowing heater core/bottle line (not the line with the on/off valve in it, but the one that feeds the bottle and then goes back to the pump suction inlet), coming out of the T-stat housing, then use a threaded bushing to step down to the sensor pipe thread size. It always sees the block coolant temp. Simple for a Renix rig with the bottle, but for an HO, you pay need to install a bypass valve in the two heater hoses, if the OEM does not have a bypass valve when the heater core flow is shut off?

Checked my oil on the 87, not too bad this time, will add Lucas when it drops another 1/2 quart.

Tests show my short (battery drain) on my 85 diesel, is not a bad head light switch. This is going to be a real puzzle this one. But the line from the battery that has the load with all power switches off, is on the power lead to the running lights. I think this rig is missing all the fuse links, if it ever had them in 85????

Going to try to get the fuel pump tank flange off again on the 4x4 , 1989 Cherokee.

Going to get another thermostat housing then drill and tap that one for the temp. sender. Hopefully be able to get this all buttoned up tomorrow after work. :) Then its on to the AC. Then on to making it wheelable again.

yours is streetable yet not wheelable, mine is wheelable yet not streetable lol

Can I borrow some parts to make mine wheelable? ;)

What are ya needing?

Need to extract the broken bolt on the front pinion yoke and have the rear re-geared to 4.56.

aww ok, forgot about the gearing issue :(
Bolt on the front pinion "shouldn't" be too bad.

Any ideas on who can do the gearing for ya? Or do you think you'll try it?

Hey how's your job doing? Im really liking it here at Palo Alto

Was thinking of hitting up Smith offroad in Carrollton to see how much they would charge to salvage the gears in my blown diff (if possible) and slap them into the axle that is in the Jeep. I don't have the time or the resources to try it myself.

My job is great. No complaints here. Glad Palo Alto is treating you good so far.

It's nice to have a job you like!

I've heard good things about Smith OR.

Finally got the #@!?*&^#$@*!! fuel pump/gas tank flange off the 89, 4x4 so I cab replace the frigging pump.

Never say never, ever, LOL.

Still need to locate the battery power drain on the 85 :(

The other 2 are in DD service. Saturn needs the camber fixed, not sure what that will take. Ford 96 Taurus is for sale, running....

Checked backlash on a lower mileage HP30 I'm swapping in and picked up a set of 285/75-16's with a little over half tread for $100. Will get ole girl looking a little more proportional.
