What was done to YOUR rig(XJ/MJ) today MECHANICALY????

also my neighbors did a solid and rebuilt the wall they knocked down 2 fridays ago.

Pulled the electric fan kit out of mine and got a mechanical clutch fan and a stock electric fan in. Still over heating, but Im not entirely sure I want to be trusting the gauge in the dash.

i just picked up the battery hold down bracket. Mine was missing the stock one and i was looking around for one. 15 bux, cant beat that!

drove mine around yesterday, the front calipers need rebuilt/replaced. Its been needing it for a while but i was hoping to hold off but after yesterdays drive no such luck. Drove it around yesterday to dump some waste oil at the parts house. Cruised around like a champ with the new alt.

got my first kid pointing and getting excited about it yesterday which is always a cool feeling. hearing "DAD DAD DAD! LOOK AT THAT AWESOME CAR!" and pointing at the jeep and jumping up and down. Kid was probably 5-6 tops.
 
I recharged my A/C this morning. The can said 50-55 PSI for 90 degrees F. I charged it to 45 to ensure it wasn't over charged. After work, I start it up and hear/smell something. This hose started spraying when the compressor kicked on.

I guess the gauge was wrong on the can or the temperature reading I got was wrong and I over charged it. Oh well. Luckily one of the two that I have located in the "greater Houston area" is right next to my unit up in Conroe and there is a shop full of helicopter mechanics with a proper R-134 setup.

Then on the way home I started getting a rotational vibration and noise. It sounded and felt like it was the front left. I couldn't find anything obvious when I got home.
 
I don't think my charge is holding either.

I always charge mine tell it gets cold air blowing out the vents, and that is usually at about 35 psi as I recall. I think 55 is way too high as it drives the high side pressure close to 300 psi. I think mine run at about 35 PSI low side about 220 PSI high side under the worst heat loads.

If you have no water inside the lines there is there water to freeze, and if the air is hot and blowing and the evaporator T-stat is working ice should not form and close off the evaporator at my pressures. I think the higher pressures are used to avoid ice forming, but it raises the evaporator temps from about 35 to about 45 F, and mine cools faster and way better at the lower pressures.

I need too! You saw me last time i was there, and it's been awhile. This thing needs some overhauling to be streetable, and I don't have a tow rig yet...
 
Been way too hot to work on anything but alas I had to relent this evening. Wife's Armadas a.c. took a crap, clutch seems to be shot. Since I have been too busy she has been driving the jeep. Mind you it is ugly and has almost no interior in it...but it has a.c.. she complained last Friday about poor a.c. function so I checked the Freon all was good and then noticed the election fan wasn't coming on. Amazingly enough it was just the relay, even more amazing it never overheated! Wish everything was this easy.
 
Back to my over heating issue. Temperature gun shows around 190 on the thermostat housing. Around 165 on the side of the engine block and around 200 on top of the valve cover, so I'm really beginning to think the gauge in the dash is a little off. Ordered a new temp. sender from OReillys.

Gonna use the Jeep to go to work tomorrow. Wish me luck.
