What was done to YOUR rig(XJ/MJ) today MECHANICALY????

thinking later this week once i get inspected, i'll do my lift and axle swap. i really want to go all the way and 4x4 swap. but seeing as i've never done one i'll need some help

I'd be interested in coming by to help on the tranny swap since I'm planning to do it too.

well i might have to plan a weekend and get too it. i have school during the week and cant take off of class. i am just throwing the axle in first, i want to get an SYE on my 231 before i put it in the jeep.

Wow, it kinda classes up the run down neighborhood!!!:sunshine:

Found the vibration in the front. The front pinion yoke nut had backed off and was VERY loose. I should have looked there first. The rear pinion won't stay tight why would the front one stay tight?

So even though the front pinion nut was loose, it wasn't the vibration culprit. Getting frustrated. under acceleration the vibration goes away but once I let off it starts to grind/vibrate in a rythmic pattern. vvvvvvvvvrrrrrrmmmmmm off vvvvvvvvrrrrrrmmmmmmmm off and on and on. it's got to be in the drivetrain somewhere. Theres' also a random squeak that seems like it's under the dash. If I'm moving it's squeaking. there's no pattern to it and it doesn't care how fast I'm going either.

sounds like a ujoint.

and i almost finished my lift. running about 2.5-3" up front and about 1.5-2" in the rear aprox. all i need need to finish up the lift is put the shocks on and tire. it got too late

Heading out this weekend to inspect a low mileage, 1984, 2 door, 4 banger, 2.5 L, carbed, 4x4, Cherokee Pioneer, RUST FREE, 5-speed manual JEEP for sale in Houston. I may need to get a larger driveway soon, LOL!

sounds like a ujoint.

All new Joints in the shafts. The driveshaft joints are all good. The output of the Transfer case isn't moving around. I'm starting to think it's in the locker. The pinion nut was backed off, but tightening it didn't help the noise any.

Beat on and ripped off the the beat to hell bumper off the 89, getting around to the final body work repairs from my daughter's last fender bender ride into the trunk of a ???? Maid some good progress. Got stonewalled by wandering gremlins on the two AC repair jobs on the ford and saturn. Frod has a wiring harness short (JOY!!!!), and the saturn has a bad compressor now, valves are bad. At least it is not JUNE!!!!
