What was done to YOUR rig(XJ/MJ) today MECHANICALY????

Mmmm rusty

It'll clean up nice.

I need to get those rims put on my jeep. Just don't feel like paying the $50 to have my tires put on there since I just did that the other week, and I'm not exactly confident the bfgs on there now will last long.

rotated my tires on the MJ. Put a way beefier tracbar on the big jeep. Got rid of the crappy 7/16 bolts that came with my old T&T setup and stepped up to 3/4 heims with 5/8 grade 8 bolts. Hopefully that will solve my tracbar being constantly loose and bent bolts.

Manic Mechanic and I found a new way to remove doors.

no tools really required, and the final product is doorlessness for a good while.

That's a joke, right?

Changed the oil in my heep whilst changing it in my wife's mazda and doing the front brakes.

Took the Jeep out and rescued a buddy and his Tahoe stuck in the mud during a tornado. LOL, As soon as we got to him the Tornado Sirens were going off. We hightailed it outta there while the winds were throwing me all over the road. Finally found a solid building to shelter behind and got ready to get in a nearby ditch. It was a good thing we didn't though. The roof of the trailer beside us took off and large chunks of it landed in the ditch we had been planning on getting in. Got the Jeep back on the road after the wind slowed down a little and spent the next hour pulling his Tahoe out of the mud. I hate the clay and dirt used in these rural dirt farm roads. One drop of rain and the whole road turns to snot! I'm pretty sure my front end is needing some tightening up now. Felt like the font axle was trying to rip itself out from the Jeep!

Drove it to Taco Bell.

Well, I guess the jeep is part mine, so I guess it counts: Continued gutting the parts jeep and cutting it up with Swamprat. Eventually will pull the rims off, swap the tires out and mount them on to my jeep. We haven't tackled the worst yet, still have to remove the leaf packs without damaging them since those will be reused.

According to my initial odometer reading, I averaged 14mpg this tank of gas, but that also includes about 20-30 miles with 4x4 engaged and/or romping through some mud puddles. Not sure I'm overly impressed, considering when everything was broken I was getting 15mpg.

From the sounds of it I need to replace more parts, when I turn the wheel all the way to the left I get a popping/clicking sound from the driver/front tire. Wheel bearing possibly? Just another thing to add to the list of stuff I need to replace.

added a new jeep to the fleet.

its a 90 XJ, 4.0 with 141,xxx on the clock, 2wd aw4, power everything and has almost all the cool options, like the retractable hood light, and a rear wiper.

looks like it'll need some front end work, new radiator, power steering pulley, belt, right fender, maybe hood, cowl cover, tires, and the headliner redone.

what i plan on doing is fixing it and driving it as a 2wd jeep for a day or two to see that it works. then i will start my 4x4 swap.

:D

Perrty one!!!!!! I am jealous!!!!

Organizing and getting ready to start converting a Wrangler bumper and tire carrier to fit the XJ. Will do some pics as it goes along. I can't wait! It's going to be awesome. I just home the Rear leafs can handle the extra weight. I've been bottoming out really easy lately. May have to try out the Rusty's Lifetime warranty.

Good luck with that. He considers his springs a "wear item." He wouldn't warranty mine.

OME is sending out new springs with overload leaves for me. Then again, I'd expect any company to warranty leaves that fail after 5 weeks and 1 offroad trip.
