What was done to YOUR rig(XJ/MJ) today MECHANICALY????

Well, part A of the test was a success, managed to get to work on time AND not have the Jeep break down on me. Question is will it get me back home? Honestly though (hopes are up), it does seem to run alot better, much more consistent idle and has a bit more pep to it then before this all started. Just have to wait and see.

I put my new JCR bumper on finally, unfortunately I won't have the quarter panel plates that overlap it on until AFTER ROM.

Only thing I still need to get done is the rear drive shaft....

Rear shock mount....

Rear ford 9", still have to get some leaf springs clamps too. Full droop front and rear, Bilstein 5100's all the way around.

Sweet man real sweet

Actually I did know to use one and I did know you had one. I have one myself but things weren't going too well with it.

This isn't completely seated but at least the fork fits over it and bolts down for now.

That's not too bad.. mine looks like that.. no way is it gonna go in more with out damaging the bushing. SO I called it quits and installed the arm.

Well, so far the jeep is still running well. it did however have a hiccupp and then another die, both happened when I started it and immediately went into reverse and had to crank the wheel all the way. Tried to get it to stall again and it wouldn't. Checked for codes, none were there. I'm going to say it was a fluke, although I will keep an eye on it and look things over again.

Also, I finally got my 30x9.5 Mud rovers installed!!! Just in time to go camping down the road with my buddies and do a little hunting. They are alot better then the 235 Wrangler A/Ts I had on there which were already getting wore down. Hopefully these will last till I can afford to throw some 31x10.5 and some 15x8s on it.

Next on the list assuming my jeep is now running properly, is to figure out what to do about the bumpers/recovery points and trim the front. Thinking I may just hack my bumpers off and throw some tow hooks on but we'll see. Debating the 2x6 or 2in tube steel designs also. Also, roof rack and lights. Then gears/axles and then maybe go higher with the lift.

Well, so far so good on the jeep. Added a oil breather and replaced the PVC 90 degree piece in the back, cleared and cleaned the valve on the intake, and put new grommets in and made sure the houses were all good. Jeep seems to be doing pretty good now. No more codes, stutters, hiccups, or anything else.

I think I got a wheelbearing or ball joint going out on the front driver side. Turn to near full and its makes a popping sound. More fun work and more money to be spent, lol.

Spent some time doing all of the finish welding last night with some help from my buddies.

(Golf Clap) Very nice, very nice!

If all things go right this weekend, getting some window d rims for my jeep, some nerf bars and maybe a OEM swing out tire carrier. Also will have a spare hood to attempt my big mouth hood scoop. Keeping my fingers crossed, been wanting these rims since day 0.5!!!

Thanks bro..... If any of you guys are up for a road trip (I know a lot of you just did ROM), the Crawlers are having a huge New Guys Run the weekend of the 14th. Then having a huge crawfish boil Saturday night at the #5 Shop. If you can make it, it will be awesome.

I 2WD local Houston trails every day, LOL!

Finally got my new Strongarm rear hatch lifts installed on the 85 and 89 XJs yesterday. Made a lot of real progress repairing the front end suspension damage on my sons Ford Taurus, 96.

Me likes them! (The Strongarm lifts from Rock auto)

I swapped out the 87 rear 4.0 head temp sensor with a known, good, new, correct one the other day, and it still does not operate the dash gauge properly. :-(
Off to look for a bad, dirty dash gauge connection or bad gauge ground next. Maybe the C-101 finally giving me an issue.

dont forget the temp sensor is different for a gauge or dummy light cluster

Yep, I figured AZone stuck me with the wrong one last time, I should have tested it with a meter, but the new one had the right resistance profile, versus temp, not a switch. So I fixed the wrong thing, again:eek:. Rule number 1, if ain't broke don't fix it!:lecture: LOL

I'm realizing that I need to fix pretty much every mounting point on the body. The front end is really getting loose and all over the place. The holes are all wallowed out. Thr trac bar shifts almost a full half inch every time I turn left or right. The lower control arms mounts on the axle side move around too. Maybe I'll get that done as I'm modifying this wrangler rear bumper and getting that mounted.

quick way to tell on that temp sensor?switch on the back of the head is if the black plastic sticks up more than just a little its a switch the sensor has plastic that barely protrudes past the top. stick two next to each other and youll see what im talking about
