What was done to YOUR rig(XJ/MJ) today MECHANICALY????

IT'S ALL HERE!!! Target date is next weekend. Starting the process of spraying and soaking this weekend. Overall, the leaf eyelet areas are not all that rusted so I'm hoping for a smooth install, but prepared for the worst. Of course Battle had to check it all out and see what the excitement was all about.

Nice polka dot flip flops. I've got ome leaf packs sitting in my garage and they've been there for two months now. :wheneverigetaroundtoit:

Yeah...about those flip flops...those are the fiance's, I swear! Man, I really hope this springs don't end up in the "whenever I have time" pile that I got going on already...

Well, washed the underside this afternoon, start soaking tomorrow. Wanted to make sure it was completely dried off before spraying to make the best use of it, no sense in letting it all drip off. Ian, if you're free this coming weekend then we got some work to do. I'll have all my tools with me. Hopefully I have all the right tools.

Got the brakes finished. Good and strong too. Actually drove it around. Good power and actually took it offroad (ie. through the yard, and over the curb LOL) Now the housing office doesn't think it's a broken down vehicle! Woohoo!

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today MECHANICALY????

Started to swap out radiator on the 89. Plastic tank died on the pass side. Ordered a 3 row CSF today.

Helped a friend of mine debug the rod knock that sounded like the engine was about blow on his ZJ (4.0 from an XJ).

Turned out it was out of oil :twak:

He had switched to a 10W40, from 20W50 (it was out of stock), and had a new exhaust leak (missing donut), probably blowing hot exhaust on the block....

And my daughter has run hers down to nothing on the dip stick twice as well the last 6 months.

JESSSSH!!!!

KIDS!!!!:banghead:

Why is everyone trying to kill their Jeeps by depriving them of oil!?! Speaking of oil, its time for an oil change and tune-up. Also really wanting to hit 20mpg on the highway (I know, it won't last once the lift goes on) Anyways, after that 703 swap I've noticed my mileage going up, and sure enough the last quarter of a tank was going at the rate of about 18mpg. Wondering if a tune up would tip it closer to the mark. Been looking at relocating the intake air temp sensor, may do that after here soon. Also, been spraying the leaf eyelets in anticipation of the lift install, very excited.

remove the roof rack and rails that'll give you another mile per gallon.

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today MECHANICALY????

just need some flaring, but then again jeeps are dinosaurs. hell i was lucky if i got a tail wind and got 24mpg on the highway. but the average on my 00 was around 19.8mpg

Going to try putting my gas tank skid and tow hitch back on, throwing on the OME leafs, and doing some more "diagnostics" of the np231. Pretty ambitious for me and I'll probably not get any of it done.

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today MECHANICALY????

I tried driving mine to work this morning, but dead/slow crank. I really need to figure out whats draining the battery. BAH HUMBUG.

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today MECHANICALY????

trying to button some last few items on this MJ so I can hopefully sell it. I've got a guy looking at it tonight!

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today MECHANICALY????

MJ is "sold" the guy just has to gather his cash. Lots of people want it, they just don't have the cash till next month! LOL

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today MECHANICALY????

I rebuilt a front drive shaft... all n all i broke a set of needle bearings in one cap and 9$ later i had to get a new u joint to get the bearings out of it.. and its all put back together... Tuesday gonna take my jeep in to a shop and have my SYE installed. Then hope by that same weekend I will have my lift installed with the help of a good friend. But time will tell if everything works out as planed.

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today MECHANICALY????

Speaking of ujoints, anyone have a cap seal from a parts spicer 760 laying around? I was trying to put ujoints in my new alloys and borked up a cap. When I pulled it out, it trashed the little rubber seal around it.

I got the bushings pressed into the leafsprings yesterday. I took it to krawltex since I busted my vice.
