What was done to YOUR rig(XJ/MJ) today MECHANICALY????

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today MECHANICALY????

I got mine inspected Wed with out any issues. Today pulling into the parking lot at work the seal on my steering box blew, and dupmed all of the PS fluid. It looks like the snap ring came un seated and let the seal blow. That AGR box is almost the only "new" part on the jeep, and its the one that craps out! Its gonna be a long few miles to drive home with no power steering and 36's. I'll probably just put the stock box back in for now till I have time to fix it.

Since the weather has cooled down, the lift struts on the hatch have decided they don't have enough juice to hold it up. They decided to tell me after they held it up long enough for me to walk under it. *WHACK! My head still hurts.

Nothing to my Jeep. But I come in to El Paso friday night. Saturday morning, the guy that lives across the street from my dad has this thing sitting in his driveway.

NICE!!!!!! I'll take one of those.

Looks perfectly equipped for city streets here!

I chased 3 gremlins in my 87 today, lost one battle, the other 2 were a draw. I actually fixed 2 things, and fixed a 3rd that was not broken, LOL, but I still have the current shudder problem.

Got the MJ running. So happy to hear that thing fire up! Now to finish putting it back together find some CHEAP 33s for it and then sell it.

Rigged an emergency brake cable to work with my 8.8 disk brakes. All parts purchased at the hardware store for less than $10. Now I just need it to last a day or so to get it inspected!

Nearly stranded tonight 40 miles from home, at work, after 12 hours of hhard work:smsoap:.

Later I gave my old 1000 CA (diesel) amp battery the "last rights", and replaced it at the zone (same one). Got 4.5 years out of it, and 30% warranty break on the new one. Not bad considering the "parked for months" abuse it got off and on all that time.

Put the driveshafts back together and got the battery fully charged, started re-installing the grille, realized a headlight disappeared somewhere, put the 98 bumper on the front end. just have to finish putting the brakes back in. Can't wait to have this MJ back on the road!

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today MECHANICALY????

What was the culprit?

Where to start, the transmission is wining, my d35 is clicking, I still have no power, and I need a not bent front axle....

I think it was one of the grounds that I tightened up. The pump relay never blew. It didn't want to run once it started but kept giving it gas. cleaned the throttle body. I went through it front to back tightened everything down. There is still a huge amount of built up oil and grease all over the block, and I think that may have been part of it too. I had to clean up a bunch of connectors. I did all that before even trying to put the battery back in. I just took my time and checked everything over.

On my DD 89 I tightened up the steering gear box and the track bar frame side mount. Wow imagine that the back in the front is all but gone(still need to do shocks and swat bar bushings). Added a quart of oil as it was below the add mark on the dip stick.....oops

To the rig 89 I did nadda but tomorrow I should be fixing the broken lower shock mount in the rear that broke last time at hidden halls adventure park. Will also be welding on a 70's big10 chevy pick up to fix a buddies frame.

Took front wheels, calipers, and rotors off to see if either of the hub assemblies had any play in them. No play in either of them and they both roll smooth. Not sure what the groaning/thumping noise is. I'm sure the front axle is due for a rebuild though...

Also noticed that some spiders made a home underneath the front passenger tire. Jeep sits too much. :(
