What was done to YOUR rig(XJ/MJ) today MECHANICALY????

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today MECHANICALY????

pinion bearing!? check that my just went out on my old axle.
There doesn't seem to be any play in it, but I have to readjust the pinion angle anyway, so I'll check that when I do it. I'm thinking it's the locker,

Maybe one of the springs isn't holding the gears tight inside the casing.

Yeah, I'm still debating if I really NEED a seperate hood to do the vent mod on. Although, that hood with the detachable light underneath it was pretty cool. Once I sell this Wii, I may head back up there and grab a thing or two. The fiance already shot down the idea of rescueing that Comanche in there, lol.

On another note, apparently Texoma Jeeps is moving up near I-40 in OK.

too bad the light doesnt retract, and we can make your jeep a cheromanche! :D

wait how far up in OK are they moving? i still need uhhh toob and wire for my welder

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today MECHANICALY????

They are moving to Shawnee, about 45min east of OKC. According to their website they should be done in the next 2 weeks. Kinda sucks, lol.

A Cheromanche has crossed my mind. I really dig the look of the Cherokees with the back area hacked off to make a small bed. Maybe try my hand at it. Like I said, need another jeep.

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today MECHANICALY????

it's not as daunting a task as i thought it would be, i chopped up the back half of my 92 i stripped out just to see what it would take, biggest problem i had was going through cheap grinder blades. With that said, it will need to have some shoring up to stabilize the roof and the rearend. there was a lot of play in the walls after i cut out those supports. so i would say if you plan to do a cheromanchee plan on putting a full cage in, and getting wither the back end of an mj cab or the rear hatch off a 98+ to fill in the hole. Unless you are going open anyway. I had plans to make mine but i wanted to use the end of a comanche cab and the tailgate. I gave up cause i don't have the welding skills to do it, that and i only have a stick welder which apparently i am better at burning holes in things than fixing them with.

I am however looking to buy a little 90amp wire welder for sheetmetal repairs though.

as for the heep, today i cleaned some of my junk out of it, somehow it goes into extra storage space mod when i'm not using it. And I re-wired a broken toggle switch after finding a coffee can full of them out in the field.

look what pulled into my garage tonight... 2001 TJ Sahara... it is getting a 3" budget boost installed, JK rubicon shocks, t case drop and 33 x 12.50 x 15 with crawler wheels (that comes in a week or 2, already on 31 x 10.50s)

so far I got the rear coils pulled and the 3" spacers fabb'ed up

I test drove my POS today only to find new gremlins. I sometimes wonder what the record is for miles driven versus days spent fixing the jeep.

You can't seem to catch a break. Sucks

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today MECHANICALY????

I am thinking about writing a book on Jeep gremlins! To pay for gas! LOL, I know them well!

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today MECHANICALY????

The bigger bucks would be in becoming a Gremlin Whisperer. Everyone has those pesky gremlins, and would probably pay a nice sum to be rid of them. If you're real crafty, you'll convince them just to lay low for awhile.

Installed new CD player yesterday and rewired the CB. The interior electronics are coming together. I've got some rock lights I've got to wire now. I'll get to them eventually. I hope. Also figured out the rear axle noise. The pinion nut was coming loose and the flange was rattling. I guess somebody re-used the pinion nut when they did the new gears. Very easy to torque it back down. Need to get a new one in there soon. Took the degree shims out of the spring packs too. The pinion angle is much better, but it's still a little high. The vibes are gone now at least!

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today MECHANICALY????

put the rock lights in last night. Pretty cool. tried to use an old tractor light to light up the front but it's too old and corroded inside. So I'll have to settle for lights under the body for now. I'll get a new light for up front later.

Where to start, I changed my oil and filter. And changed my trans fluid and filter, then my jeep pissed out all my B&M trick shift all over my driveway. Then I RTV'ed the gasket and it's slowly leaking now.... Damn jeep

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today MECHANICALY????

Been driving mine around for the past few days. Sounds like I need another hub assembly on the passenger side. Ugh!!
