What was done to YOUR rig(XJ/MJ) today MECHANICALY????

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

Nice that'll reduce the aerodynamic drag of the rear axle. The air will just flow through the pipe and right over the axle. :spin1:

Did the exhaust burn through a rubber brake line?

Haha, I just took that piece of the exhaust off. Need to get it welded on. Too messed up to use a clamp.

Its not brake fluid though. Gear oil.

New axle time! Now I really need to find a D44...

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

OOO, Gear oil. That stuff smells great, don't it?

Yep. I've dealt with enough of the stuff when I did my disk brake swap. Blegh.

I bet you could get an 8.25 out of the junkyard for dirt cheap. And you rear discs might carry over.

Yeah. Ill probably end up getting a 8.25. Brakes will swap over, just need to make the hole that the axle passes though on the mounting brackets a little bigger with a dremel.

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

might want to grab the driveshaft to, not sure if they use the same yoke. If you need help hauling one out of a junkyard, let me know.

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

I didn't have to swap drive shafts when I went to an 8.25.

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

Jeep was getting louder and louder on my way back from lunch... Wonder why.

Might want to consider some new(used) springs or a bastard pack. Those ones you got look mighty inverted....

Yeeepp. Plan is to get some HD replacements. Just need $.

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

Where to start. I installed a new to me passenger door panel, full size spare with cover, and cargo cover from the wrecking yard. I fixed the power door locks, not really sure how. I pulled the blinker switch to take it apart and clean up the contacts, I soon realized that putting it back together wasn't going to happen so picked up a new one and reinstalled. I also put new wires, cap, and rotor on. Now to figure out where to mount my Pioneer 10" and amp without losing to much cargo area.

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

If it is just the amp mount it to the rear seat back, or if you are putting in a speaker box just secure the amp to the box (this is how mine is).

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

got the rear disks set up on the D60, bought 2 more sticks of tube!

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

Pulled the c8.25 and put in the D44. Just gotta change out the ebrake cables and possibly wheel cylinders, put the drums on(their huge), bleed the brakes and put the wheels back on. But for now it's sitting in the garage on Jack stands while my buddy and I go drop off "Cindy" his 1967 Plymouth GTX at the body shop.

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

Went to Dallas and picked up Ian's rig. When I got home I picked up a new battery, and drove it around the block a few times. I need to pick up a front drive shaft tomorrow, and take a look at the trac bar situation. May try to get some flares mounted back on it as well.

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

What Color is that jeep u picked up? If u need some patriot blue flares I got some sitting in my shed.

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

It's blue.... i have the stock black flares that came off of it... gonna try to make those work.

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

we got the D44 in and my brakes fixed so now it will actually stop without having to put the pedal to the floor. Also my flared D-ring mounts from AJ's offroad will be here Wednesday. Almost have all the money needed to have the gears installed.

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

The driveway looks empty with out the blue XJ sitting in it.

The stock flares should go back on...the trimming was not that extreme.

I'm glad to hear that you had better luck with a new battery in it....sorry man.

Don't forget that the DS on that year is different (and why I have not replaced it yet). I was going to do what Kurt did and replace the front yoke with one from a 231 so that I could run a "real" DS. Kurt told me that he had to have the one that he installed shortened to about 26".

With the amount of lift that it has, the angle is too extreme for the stock type DS...which is why the one I had is now mounted on the wall at Flores' old shop.

The bike took its first spill with us btw. DG's son "Trouble" was pulling it into the garage and the front wheel slipped on some antifreeze...it was a clean lay down though...no one and nothing was damaged. The cost of my XJ was worth it to me to teach him how to ride and witness his first wreck all in one day...LOL!!!

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

Started taking apart the big front bumper, sanding and priming.
