...-_-"

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

Ok and if you ruin his XJ, are you going to pay for it? And if it's in the "contract" that he has it on there and you remove it, then he gets it repo-ed... are you going to buy him a new one?

Too many things can go wrong. And there ARE systems out there that if you remove them, it WILL ruin the vehicle. Just because you have removed a lo-jack and other systems doesn't mean that there isn't a new system out there that is tamper proof.

Just lovely, more signs of a "Brave New World". Can't wait to hear the news that some one hack a few thousand of then all at once and shut them down. No doubt someone will be selling a hacker version soon, that hacks the systems. :eyes:

You guys will love this one!

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

Wow, I've never heard of a device like that. No way I would ever agree to something like that-i'd rather buy a beat-up econobox, at least I'd know nobody could stop me from driving it.

Then don't move to Japan. They tax you death once your heap hits 50,000 miles so will buy a new one.

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

yep. im updated regularly on those.

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

Yes, really. They export the used cars. Singapore (south east asia) has a similar deal IIRC, and Europe has caught on to. Cash for clunkers may have been an early version here.

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

yeah, im sure to expect more deals like that until everybody has a hybrid lol

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

Try getting a better credit rating and then a not so sheisty bank.

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

credit cards suck balls

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

Yanking this thread back on topic yet again, today I bent my left swaybar link mount back into place, and installed a new MAT sensor. Now the Jeep idles at barely 400rpm ???
Time to go after the O2 sensor wires I guess.

EDIT: oh, and Japan has some pretty crazy laws regarding cars. Google "shaken", it's the japanese equivilant of our auto inspection. Most vehicles need it every two years after the first 3, and it costs in the ballpark of $1000-1500+ each time. That's just one of the things they deal with.

New MAT..idle at 400, interesting. Have you tried resetting the computer with an OBD-II scanner or by disconnecting the battery for a while? This forces it to relearn and recompute table values right away for a new sensor. The PCM is probably still using using old values and calculations based on the old sensor, and it can take some time for it relearn unless you force it, by pulling the power to clear the memory.

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

Of course :)
battery was left disconnected for about an hour.
