What was done to YOUR rig(XJ/MJ) today MECHANICALY????

Nothing as glamorous as some here, but today I finally got my driver's side electric window working almost like new on my Wagoneer!!!!! I also salvaged a new like (Junk yard pull 2 years ago) rubber-felt like vertical window guide out of the recently totaled 89 jeep and replaced the old one on my 87. That helped enormously!!!!!

The old one was supper hard brittle plastic like, the salvaged on one was like brand new rubber. Hard to believe rubber could turn that stiff and brittle....

Also discovered the spring loaded door catch on mine is not what is bad, it turns out the sheet metal holding that part is cracked and failing :(

I am going to cut a hole in the metal internal door so I can get in there to see and possible repair it with steel filled epoxy on both sides. It might be real hard to weld repair with such thin metal. Other option is a back up plate stiffener and longer bolts I ( if I use a thick plate), but I doubt I can swap the OEM bolts :( IF I can use a buch of epoxy on both sides, I can see that working, maybe.

Oil consumption has dropped 50-70% on the Saturn since I did the MMO into the spark plug holes overnight trick!!! Checked the oil today and topped it off again.

Unexpected issue there. Never seen it before.

I need to find a cost effective, easy to use parts list and source for replacing the entire 89 Renix heater and bottle hose assy next. Thinking of some custom stainless steel tubing, or copper, but maybe not. I have the tubing bender and 1/2 tubing, but the hose is 5/8 and 3/4 and my bender stops at 1/2".

I may have a hydraulic hose and tubing shop near me make it. But I thought I saw a hose package once for the 89s where you reused the old pipe Ts from the OEM hose?

Jeep back on the ground

Sye install starts tomorrow

I need one of those.

85 Diesel battery died again. What a pain...wiring issue...

Usually brake and clutch pedal problems are spongy no resistance pedals. But today my 85 XJ clutch pedal is suddenly rock hard (No it is not taking Viagra). It's like the MC is seized and stuck? Has any one ever had this happen? I mean it is like somebody welded it in place, it has about 1/8" of flop (zero resistance, up and down, so it is not the pedal hardware under the dash, I don't think). Then it is 100% rock hard welded like ZERO movement. It was working perfectly last week.

Any feed back, history, causes, fixes???? This is a new one on me.

Moved the jeep in front wheels drive and the t case didn't blow up so I guess I did ok on the sye.

To do list getting shorter:

Quality piece, love mine

Measure a lot

Driveshaft showed up last night

To do this weekend:

Driveshaft
E brake cables
Bleed brakes

Still won't have my front locker working. Need an air line for it and they're on back order. Guess I can deal with just a rear locker for now

Driveshaft on, need some degree shims

Couldn't get it fast enough to see if I had vibes, breaks feel iffy. Vacuum bleeding doesn't work near as well as the 2 person method

Parking brakes work

Well the good news is I was bleeding the brakes properly

The bad news is I need a new master cylinder

Parts came in this week for my 85 clutch MC replacement (old one seized up) and some of the heater hoses for the 89. My 85 brake VB and MC may be next. I seem to get excessive corrosion with the battery disconnected, but I have a short to find first, :(

I am now maintaining another 89 by carrier pigeon, LOL, in CO Springs, CO, where my daughter moved to and bought a nice well cared for 89.

Granny in the garage one. :-)

broke tcase shifter linkage, rec'd Azzy works linkage, time to install
drug my exhaust all around Bridgeport. It's relocated itself rearward about 4". not sure on the fix yet. BFH?
broke the seal on windshield apparently - taking water through the glass. 1/2 pound of silicone should do it!
