What was done to YOUR rig(XJ/MJ) today MECHANICALY????

I don't think I've ever used spring compressors working on my xj

I did ball joints on my old 89 without spring compressors. Just put the axle on Jack stands and remove the wheels, brakes, axles then ball joints.

Remove the axles?

Does the shock absorber keep the spring in place while replacing the Ball joints?

Does the shock absorber keep the spring in place while replacing the Ball joints?

Yes.

And you'll be on jack stands. Nothing to worry about with the springs

It will all be clear after your surgery.

Ok you don't need to take the shafts put then. (There aren't any)

This is a 2WD, that changes it right?

Yup.

You just have a stub shaft going through the unit bearing. Just knock the knuckles off and it all comes off together.

Installed a couple of the KC Daylighters... decided to just drill out the light tabs.

Now I need to wire them up, and figure out the best way to cut into this Radio Shack Project Box so I can set up my switches.

Got 50% of the 85 diesel jeep dash assy all back together today, and the new wiring project on it started. Plan to finish her tomorrow. Inspection is due.

Disconnected the vacuum line to the brake booster on the 87 problem child brakes, got a hard peddle engine running but nearly zero braking power. So the vacuum booster is doing its job. Vacuum reconnected. :sunshine:

Still no answer to the mushy peddle.

Need to pick out some uper and lower ball joints from Rock auto for 89 2WD. What extra tool(s) should rent fro A-zone?

I dont run the rough country, I run the rubicon express drop brackets. Yes they indeed help especially keeping caster aligned. Won't bind as bad when flexing with these. I run 5.5 inches of lift, but I am removing them soon. Longarm kit came in yesterday

Went to xtreme off road park in Crosby today with a friend.

Got stuck in the mud a few times. I need lockers.

85 Diesel revival delayed, battery died overnight, due to short in wiring behind the reinstalled dash? Ugh...31 year year old dual wiring system to hunt through, such fun. Got it down to one wire from the batttery. Will continue tomorrow

Replaced ball joints, rebuilding control arm flex joints, replaced coils and spacers with new correct springs... waiting on control arm drop brackets :)

Couple stuck shots

I think I'm gonna Aussie the front before hidden falls

Started some must do floor repair last night. Thinking I'll cut out the bad, weld a plate over the top and then weld a bead around the hole from the bottom and shoot it with a couple coats of paint. Recommendations are welcome if you've done this type of thing before...

I have an Aussie in the front of my 2000 I believe it helps as much as if I'd had it in the rear. Now both front and rear works great like I had in the 87. But I did not ride that on the road much. It's noisy if in the rear takes getting used to.
