What was done to YOUR rig(XJ/MJ) today MECHANICALY????

I used a piece of 1x2 box metal tubing as a spacer and the power steering to push the bolts through if that makes sense.

yeah just seen this

the 36mm isnt, I thought you could pull the shaft/unit bearing at the same time. Thats how I remember it, but its been awhile since I worked on a d30. I dont think this one has ever been apart...

you can, i've done it that way before.

my method for getting them off destroys the dust shield, but if you beat the hell out of that with a hammer they tend to come off.

You can, a trick that works real well is to screw in one of the 3 unit bearing bolts a few threads leave a socket and extension on it so that it touches the knuckle then turn the steering wheel, I hope that makes sense.

FYI. If you are doing the WJ swap and using the ruffstuff DOM/whatever everything else is called to make the custom lengths, the heims are coarse thread and the tie rod ends are fine. At least I made sure to put one reverse and one regular threaded piece on each tube ...

Rear dana 60 isu
Front dana 60 from a 90 f350 (the one with no room to work with on the driver's side)

No immediate plans, gotta do my rockers and plate in frame and front first, just couldn't pass em up.

You could flip that front 60 to someone with an OBS 250 wanting to get rid of the twin traction beam dana 50. When I still had my 250 I searched high and low for one, king pin or ball joint, and couldn't find one for less than a grand.

Those will look cool on the mini

So an AMC 258 question, since it is basically the same as the 4.0 I figured someone here might have an idea. The car had been sitting for many year, we have had it running and driving well. The Gremlin was idling for about 20 minutes while we washed it. Got in and wanted to check the decibels at WOT since it got a new exhaust. Revved to 3500 and all of a sudden got some nasty valve clatter. Looked down to see 0 psi. Normal idle is 10psi and 45 at 3500. I am assuming the gauge is correct since the valve clatter happened at the same time. All we can think is the oil pickup clogged, cracked or fell off , or a catastrophic oil pump failure. We checked the distributer drive gear and changed the oil and filter and did not notice anything outside the norm. Any other ideas since we have to pull the motor to drop the pan.
