What was done to YOUR rig(XJ/MJ) today MECHANICALY????

Replaced a TPS with another, still chasing an off idle stutter when it goes into closed loop. I'll do the grounds and c101 connector next, along with O2 sensor.

Starting to come together ...

My unit bearing started howling on the way home from ROM and my brakes were pretty close to being done so I figured better sooner than later to do the swap. Knuckles are cooling in sand right now.

Some caps weren't rusty ...

Hopefully the popping sound when backing and turning sharp was them. I checked all my bolts, which are all gone for the wj swap, and they were all good.

Got bored so I threw on the zj tie rod I picked up last year... Figured may ad well since the jeep can't drive anywhere any time soon anyway

Working on the 89, no crank, starter-solenoid-wire-ignition relay(near the battery) problem, and it is raining for days here now in the weather forcased, oh-Joy. Start spins when hot wire-jumped. I hope it is the $5 relay near the battery or ground on it. I hope the bad actor is this guy http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1073495&page=2

Also trying to get the 87-white 4x4 fuel pump out of the tank :banghead::cry: as we hot wired it and just get a hum, but no fuel at the rail. Im made up a wiring harness to go from the battery (clamps) to the fuel pump (GM factory weather pack new connector) and about 20-25 feet of wire to test fuel pumps on a Renix Jeep :greensmok

I was hoping it was a wiring problem. May be time to shop for a renix fuel pump.

Changed the air filter also picked up 6 qts of napaoline 10 w 30 for oil change.:peace:

Pulled the green wire at the solenoid pin on the 89 Renix starter relay, near the battery and jumped it directly to the +12 battery post and the starter worked perfectly :yap:

Took all of 2 minutes to run the test.

See here:

So it was not the starter. Thought it was the starter relay, replaced it, it was the 89 OEM still in there. It gave me a fight.

It did not fix the problem, but I was able to start it in neutral and not park!!!! Bingo NSS got wet-dirty in the high water rain last week? Working the shifter back and forth for several minutes got it working in park finally, for now.

I have a new spare, so it is getting changed next. In the mean time we can jump start it by jumping the green wire to the starter solenoid :rof:
