What was done to YOUR rig(XJ/MJ) today MECHANICALY????

I haven't even been in my garage since early December. Guess I should make sure the Jeep is still there.

I have the Rusty's diff guard on the D30 on my 2000. Does anyone else have one? It is next to impossible to check the fluid level and hard at best to fill.

I am thinking about just cutting out a space for plug access. Should I remove it (will have to drain) or try and cut while on? How easy does diff fluid ignite if there are sparks from a cutting wheel?

Thanks... The Rusty's guard is actually outside the diff cover so no issue with metal inside. I'm just not sure how good of a job I can do with it mounted. I might take it off anyway and cut. It uses the 5 bolts on the bottom of the diff cover. I wonder if I take them out remove and replace the guard if the seal may still be OK? As you can see I'm not patient and lazy ;)

I've had covers that would start leaking as soon as you removed a bolt or two and I've had some you've had to knock off with a deadblow. Since I switched over to lube lockers, they'll start leaking everytime.

And for the record, I haven't worked on my jeep at all since the rear discs and pinion bearing. I wanted to get out and fix the leaky power steering issue this weekend but it was cold and wet and I'm a weenie.

I havent touched mine in a few weeks. Stupid rain.

OK drove my 87 2.5L auto into my shop yesterday. First time I've driven since last run. I am replacing the leafs. I discovered that at idle it stalls out. Give it a little gas and will stay running fine... just poops at idle. Think it's something as easy as clogged fuel filter? What can I check?

Edited; I think i may have noticed this issue even while on last run but did not drive it very far :( Only thing I've done recently is new battery.

Hmmmm.....I don't know much about the 2.5L.

It sounds like a fuel problem. Fuel filter would probably be the cheapest thing to try if you know you haven't done it in a while. Can you go rent a fuel pressure gauge and find what you're getting at the rail? Might be the fuel pump itself.

Throttle body ;) I know I had a fuel filter problem a couple years ago so I will replace that today or tomorrow. I read that after replacing a battery (dead one) that the computer may need to be given a chance to relearn. I have not driven at all since replacing the battery do you think that basis has any truth to it?

I've noticed a rough idle for a couple minutes after replacing the battery before but the engine didn't die. I had a similar problem on my 96 which turned out to be a bad oxygen sensor.

Your's is much older than my '99, and the new battery might rule this out, but it only takes a minute to try:

On my 4.0L, if the battery runs down or goes dead, once I get it charged and running again, I have to disconnect the battery or it won't idle. Something in the computer gets out of whack with the low voltage, and nothing but a total reset fixes it.

Greatings folks!!!! I am coming to back to life, from the near dead zone......

Been able to drive all mine here and there lately. Gotta love the cheap gas

Wish the heat worked better on the 87 and 89. 89 is running perfectly these days. 87 needs valve guide work (head work), I think. Still getting a slow oil foul of @1 and #2 spark plugs every 500-700 miles. 289,000 miles.

Other than that and poor heat (heater core) it runs great too. My 85 diesel runs great, but the manual clutch is too hard for my RH arthritis now :(

Is it a Renix MPI? or throttle body injected?

It may be a battery...poor ground....TPS calibration issue.
