i have an 89 wagoneer limited with 3in sup. lift and am going to replace the front upper and lower ball joints and see that some have from +/- 1/2 to +/- 2% for adjustment what do u think i should get trying to order parts and dont know what to get HELP!!! and i am ordering from rockauto if that helps and i'm getting 31's hope this makes sense to guys :o thanks

At 3" of lift what makes you think you need off set ball joints? I mean there are plenty of guys/gals here that are running more lift than that with standard ball joints. Do you not plan to run adjustable control arms?

You're not going to know if you need offset balljoints unless you put it on an alignment rack. The past 2 jeeps I've had the camber was off.

Is it worth it to put the balljoints in? No way. Just live with it, and rotate your tires often.

Yeah, I just did my balljoints this weekend..freakin' headache and extremely messy. I used the standard ball joints from Napa (no offset). I rented $400 worth of tools from Autozone to do the job and just returned them today for a full refund (love it). That included a ball joint press and every adapter kit for it that AZ had plus a pickle fork. I used it all. Also, I even bought a sledge hammer for a stubborn knuckle on one side and I picked up a propane torch to make removal/installation easy. Lastly, put your new ball joints in the freezer several hours before you plan to install, it helps a lot.

can I ask how you know when you need new ball joints?

Mine let out a horrible creak/squeak when turning the wheel. Both times each side went bad. Replaced the joints and no noise. I also took mine way past the time needing to be replaced.
