what to buy first

if you want inexpensive tires go with treadwright.com
i am worried about running retreads.

if you lived in CA i'd sell you some 2" lift coils for 30 bucks then you could buy some blocks for the rear.

people can badmouth blocks all they want but every lifted truck has a set and i've ran blocks for the last 6 months w/o a problem, you just have to make sure your u bolts stay tight.

my leaves are already inverted, blocks would only do more damage right now. i need another set of leaves. but thanks

I would go the bastard pack. They are cheap. You could spend less than $100 on 4.5 to 5.5 inches of lift. I used 3 Cherokee leaf packs. But then you could spend the rest on good shocks. And a SYE or drop.

YOU HAVE NO CLUE. please stop spreading bad info. you running blocks for 6 months brings nothing new to this debate.

fullsize trucks run blocks, they also run fat, thick ass leaf springs, compare a full size truck leaf size to an xj's, and you'll see why the xj's cant hang.

furthermore, at the advanced end of the spectrum, blocks can be ran to fine tune ride height or shackle angle, i think goatman runs blocks, the key is controlling axle wrap, usually via traction bar. something you have no clue about, and will soon find issue with.

small blocks are ok, but will contribute to axle wrap.

i am only running blocks for a very limited time, as soon as i can afford better leafs. their coming out, but im not really wheeling my jeep either until i can afford my 4.5'' leaf pack

and he wants his jeep for...

"well i highly doubt i will race my jeep if i do it would be off in the future. maybe if i felt like setting my jeep up to scca standards i could do some rallying over here on the east coast. pretty much i want to make a "mini JS jeep" something along the lines of 3-4" of lift and 31's, tons of bump."

i dont think there will be any hardcore wheeling with lots of flex on his xj... so no axle wrap.

he wants lift on 31's to bump his system with the look of a jeep speed jeep.

you have no clue.... and change your opinion when pressed...

your first post was 100% pro blocks, now pressed you say theyre temp.

i think im gunna sit back an watch this. :P

any who i think i'll have to bite the bullet and waste all my hard earned cash on tires, and an alignment. hopefully theres a mom n' pop's tire place around here i can get a set of cheapo 31's and have enough cash left over to throw together a small JY lift.

good idea, lets get back on topic!

i dunno how craigslist works in georgia, but theres used tires abundant here in socal, i'd try that!

as far as alignment, http://go.jeep-xj.info/HowtoAlignment.htm

i sold some stuff and did some work around the city with people i know. and i have about $800 to play with now. and right now i have 3 pirelli scorpion ATRs that im going ot pick up for $175 and they have about 70% tread left. getting a 4th, mounting all 4, and what not should run me about $250 total. so that leaves aprox. $550 to use on lift and other cool things. but i do want to save some money. so really after i get the XJ main leaf and shackles im going to stop spending. unless a buddy off of another forum no longer has the JK shocks he was going to give me.

i wasnt a 100% pro as you can see i was just stating that i've ran them for 6 months w/o problems.

i am worried about running retreads.

if you look at page 74 of the august 09 issue of four wheeler and 2nd to last paragraph it states " these inexpensive remanufactured tires are welcome in our on and off-road world. they work every bit as good as other popular brands for dirt and snow traction and highway stability."

and some where in the article is says "after nearly 6000 miles, the tread depth indicated they should last at least 50,000 miles with the use we were giving the m/t's"

so if four wheeler will run them i dont see a reason not to run them, their still dot approved and 2 year 24000 mile warranty.

again as i stated above earlier, i've ran them for approx 6 months, and after those 6 months i've went from a 2" lift to working on a 4.5" RE lift, i just need rear leafs to finish my build.

you need to simmer down its the internet no need to go bad mouthing someone for their opinion on a product. i've had good luck with blocks, others havent. so my opinion will obviously be different than theirs.

no need to grab any popcorn i dont need to whip anything out to see who's got the bigger tool.

nice!!! that will fix the saggy rear end look =)

i spent today trying to remove my rear bump stops, with my luck i actually broke all 4 bolts inside the unibody, but i tack welded a kinda thick piece of square tubing in their place, drilled holes in the tubing and tack welded the nuts inside the tubing so i can remove and replace my bump stops as needed. im pretty sure i'll get negative feedback about what i did but there wasnt really any other way to go about putting bump stops in the rear after the bolts snapped off.
