what rear axle is on the 2006 ????

ok, i have seen several of them on the road and one parked, and i cant figure it out. what axle is on the 2006 4x4 grand cherokee 5.7L limited?? it looks really beefy.

I searched and all I can find is that it has "213mm rear axle" or 8.3 inch ring gear diameter

Most likely the 9.25 mopar. The Hemis I saw had that axle.

My 77 powerwagon has that axle. Obviously its older w/ drum brakes. I tried to dig around here for some information on its qualites/disadvantages but nobody knew much. Oh, thanks btw to those who did comment on it. I'm not sure if its really all that beefy I thought the Dana 60 was "better". I did go to the dealership and looked at the Commander axle, it "looked" beefy anyway.

i expected it to be another corporate axle manufactured by AAM. when is DC finally dropping Dana for all AAM axles? 2007 model year isnt it? or was that a nasty rumor i never heard was disspelled?

They droped most od the dana axles in 03, a little more in 04 and the rest in 05. The grand cherokee is most likely a 8.25 or 9.25 depending on the engine/drivetrain setup.
