what is usable on full size 1977 waggy?

Ok, here is the scoop. Got a friend who has vehicle already mentioned. This is in good enough condition to be a dd but he doesn't need it. He just drove it over eighty miles yesterday and everything was fine. So what parts on this truck are good to a person who owns an xj? I know the axles are valuable but what else? It has a 360 V8 with the full time tranfer case. If the price is right I might pick it up from him. Thanks for the help.

I don't want it as a replacement rig. If I wanted full size than I would of bought a ford. Guess I will just pass this up since I don't know what is usable. Oh yeah, friend called, he wants $150.00 for the waggy. I told him to pass me up and call when he gets some xj parts. Thanks for the help all.

rear axle would be nice if it was a D44...that and the bullit proof spicer 20 transfer case...


exactly how you make that fit in is unlcear.....

like veryone else is saying...buy it for $150.00 and use it...or if its decent enought turn it and make some $ to throw into your rig.


Most of us, given the time and space...would keep it as you can obviously tell.

well.....Dan44 front and Rear.....worth $150 easily on their own. Sell 360v8 for $150 bucks to cover purchase cost. It has Quadratrac not a Dana20, which I'm sure you can sell for $100 if working. TH400 trans is as tough as they come.

Everything else can be parted for some extra $$$$, assuming you have the space/time.

Where is the truck locted?? In GB or somewhere else? Is that price good for anyone or just you?

drive it and see how you like it. You may reconsider your XJ if it's as nice as you say.

Im thinking that the front 44 is a passenger side drop, but I have a guy saying that it will fit on the XJ.. Did the Waggy swap from one side to the other in all the years or is it only on the pass side... Im going full width and is it also the same width as the Ford 9in or is it narrower?

IIRC, D44 front and rear, narrow track (~58"), offset front and rear to passenger side.

Correct me if I'm wrong. Not that great for a XJ, I'd think about them for an early CJ.

I will not be buying this truck. The owner and I discussed selling it again and now the price is $500.00 since there is some interest in it. So he can keep the rusty p.o.s! More room for my next cherokee.

I would much rather spend $500 on a Samurai than big rusty pos truck I have no use for and no room at all for it. I don't mind wheeling in full size rigs but I prefer the smaller size like an xj or Samurai. This guy turned into an asshole on the phone so I won't buy anything from him. Haven't seen the guy in a couple of years and this is how he acts, screw him.

When old friends find out that you are trying to better your life from a bad start they try to become your friend again and try to get anything they can from you for nothing.
Like telling me that he has this wagoneer for $150 and then once interest is showed he raises the price. Typicall asshole if you ask me. This is a person I refer to as a friend because he once was an alright guy. I was given a second chance at starting a new life so I believe in giving second chances. He blew his.

As far as the truck goes, I don't have a use for it as a tow rig, trail rig, or dd which I gave my reasons for that in my last pm to you. I just don't have a use for this rustbucket.
