What is the proper forum for Miinnesota?

yeah, but see? the beauty of it is, we'll do it together as a group, right in front of the california boyz

NO WAY!

SICK!

only B has this sick of a mind! :D

Too bad there wasn't enough jeep left for round two. We saw you mid-coast guys doing damage to those jeeps so you wouldn't have to compete against us west (right) coast guys. :D :D

Interesting (disturbing?) sentiments from the more vocal midwesterners are rousing my concerns. For those of you that don't know, I'm moving to Saint Louis in (yikes) a matter of weeks now. I come from a philosophy where I prefer to put my effort into the local workings of NAXJA more so than the national level because I see it as a way to get more continuous personal interaction with the group, and would therefore be VERY interested in forming a MC (MidWest Chapter.)

It has been said that the best way to form a chapter is to have a core group who regularly communicate (visit?) and collaborate on Jeep stuff. That's the problem as I see it in the midwest, is the sheer size of the territory. Would it be better to further divide into 2 or 3 groups? I don't think so from an official standpoint, since that would tend to happen anyway as groups of friends local to each other get together for wrenching, carousing, etc.

I'm just basing this on my experience and involvement in the NAC... we have the DC area crew, the Philly area crew, the New England crew. Kinda works out into satellite cliques that get together regionally on a regular basis, travel to Chapter events, and then on to National gigs.

I'm looking for ideas here... if we can get a collective knowledge of fun wheeling destinations in the middle of the country, then I think it would be worth it to form a chapter. I enjoy road trips, so I don't think the geographical distance will be a problem. And I'm transporting a garage full of tools westward, so install parties are a must-have; especially since we seem to have some of the best fabricators as well (Not trying to start an argument here, folks!)
While I think it is cool for people that want to attend national events, I just don't have the time with school and work and other activities to do that :(. More than half the populaton of Minnesota lives in the St. Paul/Minneapolis area so it would make sense to have our efforts focus around that area...Really, I just want to meet up with other jeep people, get some tips on places to go riding, check out their equipment on their jeep, get advice on my jeep and maybe just have some dinner or something and hang out for a bit every few months.

WTF happened to the poor jeeps? My jeep is my main vehicle so I can't exactly go destroy it...

anywhere you want, as long as it is appropriate to the particular forum....

the chapter boards are intended for local "pick up" trail ride organization, and local matters, but all the oem, non-tech and tech can be thrown around at will right here.

I'm not a member of a chapter, and i enjoy unhampered web wheeling 24-7.

Hey, you MN guys have the state park at Gilbert.
You have more than those of us south of the Chedder line.

You can discusse MN wheelin' right here. You don't need a chapter to do it. But if there is enough intresest to organize a chapter, don't let Beezil discourage you. He's just a evil beaver that web wheels in his treehouse.

The other thing that killed the midwest chapter oragainization (other than Beezil's negitive attitude) was deciding exactly what states should be considered "Midwest". Theoreticly Midwest could include anything from Michigan to the Dakotas and Kansas to Kentuckey. How big should this chapter be? At the time the old Midwest board was dismantaled there was disscusion of a Hartland Chapter and a Great Lakes Chapter.

OK we've done the easy part. Now lets do the hard part. I will help, be involved, in any way that is nessicary. I would love to have a more local group. I am "up at the plate" Who would like to join up? I mentioned this to a few people while in Moab but did not see much intrerest. Sounds like there is interest after all.

Beez, Where is the local group? I am interested in doing more things localy. I had a blast in Moab but that is not something I can just got to for the weekend. Do you and chewy, Jeff, and others from the area get together evry now and again?

I would love to more local stuff.

Sean, Winterfest at the Badlands is sometime in Jan/ Feb. All us screwy midwesterners and even a couple of the east cost/ southerners show up for it. I suppose it's time we started planning it again. I'm sure a few of us will be heading there before that though.

Beez, Where is the local group

right here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

post in the non tech board or the unformal trail runs forum for topics on gettin' together to wheel.

you don't need a chapter to do this.

its easy

its basic.

I'll be waiting..........

because you've never mentioned anything until now.

chapters don't compress mileage
So you are in minnesota? That is what I am talking about, not a chapter, just people around the minnesota area that post here who own jeeps and want to hang out and check out jeeps and off road or whatnot.

there are local clubs in minnesota, and there are also a handful of sotans right here.

when you become a member, you'll have access to the members roster, and be able to see a list by state if you want to view it that way.

as a non-member, you have the ability to see where people are from by looking at the "location" thingy under user names.

the lack of midwest chapter does not prevent the organization of trail rides together, or any local discussion.

once again, I encourage you to use the non-tech forums for bs'ing, or trying to group up with your sotan, Fibbie or cheesehead buddies, or post a pop-up run in the unoffical trailride forum.

all you gotta do is start a new subject in non-tech called something like "hey upper midwest guys" or whatever.....

you don't need a chapter for that.

naxja isn't gonna find you buddies to wheel with, but you can find minnesota buddies who may like to group up with naxja.

in order to help you find local jeepin people near you, try

"minnesota jeep clubs" in Google.

I came up with a small bunch, many with forums.
