What is the proper forum for Miinnesota?

hey minnesota! find those trails! I gotta assume there are some decent trails north of the pine curtain, maybe up in the arrowhead, or maybe even further south in the the miss. river valley?

there have been quite a few attempts to get a midwest chapter started.

too many damn anti-chapter people in the midwest.

Why would someone be anti chapter? Do we have to have a centralized location or something? I figured a chapter is just a good way to keep in touch with owners around you.

I have never heard of the Minnesota chapter, but I do know we know where all the trails are around here. I am in minnesota and we a bunch of us congregate on mn-jeep.com if that helps any.

Agreed, which moderator should we contact to get a midwest chapter discussion forum? This just isn't right!
The proper way to get a chapter formation forum is to go to Moab, and drive to "Top of the World" and make your request into the wind :D I believe this is what the Utah folks did (I was there when they did it :) )

OK, all joking aside, I believe the steps you would want to follow is to talk to couple people, make sure there is enough interest to start following the formation steps and then PM Woody and request a formation forum.....

I am decidely anti-chapter.

everyone wants a chapter, but no one wants to step up to the plate.

I already did my tour of duty in the naxja bod, and I'm no longer interested in formal structure. The "national" board serves my need quite well.

I'm a happy web-wheeler.

wtf? There has to be like hierarchy and stuff? I thought a chapter forum was just so we can congregate on good places to go off roading, see if people want to meet up and check out each others jeeps or just hang out, or if you are going out for a weekend w/ the jeep just see if anyone wants to come w/...wtf

naw, the last time we had "just a forum" we were told to shit or get off the pot, we did not get formalized, so the forum got pulled.

I'm not complaining, thats how it has to work based on bylaws, insurance, and documentation concerns. there *is* more to it........

that's why I'm not gonna get involved in a midwest chapter, cause the reward is not worth the work.

this is probably a better subject for the members board.

Hux, if you are not a naxja member yet, that would be your fist move.

B if you don't have/belong to a chapter how are you going to be able to compete in the 2nd annual cherokee challange? It's looking like it could be a chapter vs chapter thing. :D

So now we're going to have to purchase a couple dozen xj's to demolish?

The midwest rebuildin' it crew don't need no stinkin' chapter to whip up on the west coast wreckin' it crew.

Hmmm...

Interesting (disturbing?) sentiments from the more vocal midwesterners are rousing my concerns. For those of you that don't know, I'm moving to Saint Louis in (yikes) a matter of weeks now. I come from a philosophy where I prefer to put my effort into the local workings of NAXJA more so than the national level because I see it as a way to get more continuous personal interaction with the group, and would therefore be VERY interested in forming a MC (MidWest Chapter.)

It has been said that the best way to form a chapter is to have a core group who regularly communicate (visit?) and collaborate on Jeep stuff. That's the problem as I see it in the midwest, is the sheer size of the territory. Would it be better to further divide into 2 or 3 groups? I don't think so from an official standpoint, since that would tend to happen anyway as groups of friends local to each other get together for wrenching, carousing, etc.

I'm just basing this on my experience and involvement in the NAC... we have the DC area crew, the Philly area crew, the New England crew. Kinda works out into satellite cliques that get together regionally on a regular basis, travel to Chapter events, and then on to National gigs.

I'm looking for ideas here... if we can get a collective knowledge of fun wheeling destinations in the middle of the country, then I think it would be worth it to form a chapter. I enjoy road trips, so I don't think the geographical distance will be a problem. And I'm transporting a garage full of tools westward, so install parties are a must-have; especially since we seem to have some of the best fabricators as well (Not trying to start an argument here, folks!)
