So I'm wanting to upgrade my gears in my Dana 30 front and Chrysler 8.25 rear end looking to run 4.10 gears. I am very new at all of this, I was told to ask what my range is? And something about the open carriers again I am really new to this stuff and have been reading up on all the gearing all that but still not fully understanding everything. Also does anyone know how to do the re gearing and what it takes. Also would it be possible you'd be willing to do so, I can pay you of course. Thank you.

Im assuming theyre talking about carrier break.
You will need a 3.73 carrier for the d30.
No carrier break for the 8.25, so you wont need a new one for that.

Lots of tools, time, and patience to do a regear, better off having a shop or trusworthy friend with the knowledge do it.

What size tires? You may want to go with 4.56's.

If you're like the rest of us, you won't be satisfied for long and go bigger, requiring deeper gears.

I ran 4.56 with 31's and it was fine, and then with 33's, then I changed axles and went up to 36's and geared to 5.42, and now I'm on 38's with the same gears.

There's not much of a difference between 4.10 and 4.56.

ATM I'm running 32's my goal is in the next two years to run 38's-40's I wanna regear now to be ready to do so I was readying you can do it with the D30 front and 8.25 rear but its not common

The dealership suggested I look for a full completed axle D30 with the gears already installed ready to go that way its easier to install and also I'd have a second set of axles also. Where can I find something like this? I've been looking on ebay but all I'm finding is the Ring and Pinon thats all

4.88 is as deep.as the 30 will go

Can you further explain this to me. So even if I wanna run 4.56 gears I will still need a 3.73 carrier for the D30? Or Will I need a 4.56 carrier? Also what do you mean the 8.25 has no carrier break? Does that mean I can run 4.56 in it or even 5.32? No problem? I just need to find the acutal set up and build it? Thanks!

I have a d30 housing w/carrier and gears, no shafts, hubs, etc. I'd sell it for $50. I can get it to Ft Wayne next Saturday.

I also have an 8.25 w/o brakes. $50.

There are 2 carriers for the 30. 1 is for 3.55 and lower. And the other is for 3.73 and higher.
As for the 8.25 the carrier break is too low to affect any greats that would be used in the jeep. Iirc, 4.88 is the max you can run in the 30 or 8.25

So after reading more into this I am figuring running my D30 4.56 gears and 8.25 also with 4.56 gears

Dan, can you post some pictures or email them to me so I can better understand what you have and I am in South Elgin IL I can pay for shipping of course. Also what gears do you have? Thank you
