what gears are people running in the norhwest

I have not run mine yet, but chose 4.88 basically because I have to only having a 4banger. I think I did a decent amount of research on Dana 30's breaking pinions and couldn't find much. I read stories of people running them for years with out problems. Also stories that some didn't even get though their first trip out and bang! I talked with the gear guru that did my work. He told me he has never had a problem with them and has never had to warranty any ether. In a nut shell he told me they were just as strong as 4.56's if you buy quality gears. So I had him install Yukons in the front axle.

Yep, the reason the guy hasn't had a return or problem is because he set them up right. Most gear failures from what I hear is because of a hack setup. If you have ever installed your own you will know why getting them Perfect can be frustrating, leaving you with the the idea that "its close enough". I would also stress getting good quality parts. It will make setup much more easy due to the more precise machining tolerances. Sorry for being long winded.

4.88 dana 44 ARB locker
4.88 dana 60 detroit soft locker
35" mtrs

Wish i woulda gone to 5.13s atleast.

Just a heads up not sure if you knew but 4.88s are the lowest gears you can run in a dana 30. I used to run 4.56s in my old completely built 30 on my 35" mtrs without issues

5.38 4.0/auto 33s thought it would be to deep, been dd/wheeling for over a year and very glad i went for it out the gate just hope 35s feel about the same

Im running narrowed 44hp front and a xj dana 44 rear. Both with 4.56 gears then i have a 4.1 case. I havent run this combo but i think it will work just fine. I will find out in the 25.
