What did you do to your XJ today

as of about 20 minutes ago I have all the hard parts for my steering upgrade

2001 WJ pump
4.5" pulley
1999 Durango Box
aluminum power steering radiator

Should begin this project after I pick up a filter for this mess.
anyone know a local place to get the steering box tapped for hydro?

what box do you have? when did it get stiff?

Its a factory spicer box and factory pump for a 1996. It began getting stiff probably just before this winter and has been getting worse. It does it real bad if I dry steer or have it aired down. It will then not even turn at all. My only other thought would be a bad fan belt thats slipping, it is super old so I guess that could be it.

Dont know about local but Old man on here does it for a reasonable price. or you could do it yourself doesnt look to difficult. Your gonna love the way the durango box feels at the wheel I give my George Foreman guarantee.

Left the house headed for Tacoma Screw to get a bolt and washers for my DIY SYE and noticed the "CHECK GUAGES" light on. There goes the alternator. I had an idea it was on it's way out but didn't want to spend the money on it. Anyway, headed over to Napa in Lacey and picked up a lifetime warranty alternator for just over $120. Had the alternator in and the core back to Napa in just under 2 hours. Hopefully I won't need to worry about it anymore.

put a fan belt on cause mine was toast....dont even know how it didnt break it was cracked up on both sides.

went over to a friends who just happen to have a cnc plasma cutter

just need to paint and get a few more screws. and in a couple weeks the front is getting the same treatment as well as tube fender flairs

very cool Ben!! Cant wait to see the finished product

Changed the fluid in both diffs. I was pleased to see no chunks come out with it, but the front had some milk shake mixed in. :thumbdn:

Then I put a "new" set of front shafts in with fresh new Spicers. The ones that came out of the Jeep were shot, but the splines were still straight at least.

i had that same problem with my front diff.. the fluid was a creamy white color.. and i just installed the locker in june..

I'm hoping the AlloyUSA Outer tube seals will help prevent this problem.. If so.. they are a VERY good deal at $50 shipped on Rockauto.com
