What did you do to your XJ today

Put the hood from my white Jeep on the new rig. Spray painted it black while it was still on the old rig and it actually turned out pretty well...so there it sits.

Found enough spare parts laying around the garage to upgrade the headlight wiring.

12awg w/relays packed back into factory wire harness. Cost $0. Wow factor with preexisting silver stars, nothing short of amazing.

Yesterday installed some IPF 4X41 bulbs (Fatboy II) to replace my (finally!) burnt out PIAA Extreme White H4s. The PIAAs were almost 6 years old and I was ready to change color temp to something with a little more contrast...

Verdict: Bright as HELL with my IPF wiring harness and multi-surface reflector lenses. Good sauce.

you did this instead of going wheeling?

Actually I did that Thursday night. Instead of wheeling I slept in, and designed my rear cargo box.

I took the dust shields that were scrapping my rotors off. Then monted my fender flares into there higher locations. And sprayed the inside of my wheels cherry red so everytime I turn there's a flash of red.

Modified and mounted a wj pitman for my high steer. Got some of my throw back and made my angles much closer and eliminated some bumpsteer.

80% complete with project make it more street legal by mounting a front plate using useless mag light mounts. Also mounted and wired the hella fogs so now I feel cool like everyone else in the PNW with nice lights. Figured i would show off the h4 lights as wells since they may be my favorite upgrade ever.

Looks nice. Real nice. How long is that license plate going to last? Or are you going to take it off once you hit the trails?

I spent a billion dollars on rubber today.

I sold my '98 XJ. Now I need one of you bastards to come buy my axles and suspension and I'll be free of all things XJ. :) :(

Well I pulled the trackbar and all the goodies that go along with it and drilled the end of the crack that had formed next to it. Then I took some 1/8x4x12 steel and drilled out some holes for plug welding my "stiffener" and stitch welded the top and sides of it. Lastly I made a gusset for the trackbar brace and welded the trackbar to the new "stiffener." I'm pretty confident this will take care of all of my upper trackbar related issues for awhile. I figure if I ever notice a need for more material up front to act as stiffeners I can add some steel no problem, but for now what I have should spread the load pretty well.

It was a productive day!

Doug, I'm sure I can find a use for your rear axle while you wait for a buyer. :)
