What did you do to your XJ today

Well today i put my cherokee on jack stands and took the tires off for tomorow's nice adventure haha

I'm gonna replace my bent axle shaft for the first time. should be fun! (seriously)

Finally had a day to go over the Jeep after last weekend.

-Muffler is now pointing to opposite corners of the Jeep (RF & LR).
-Exhaust rubs on the drive line, tank skid, and leaf spring on the slightest bump in the road. I just need to cut out the bent sections, and weld in new ones.
-Clutch hose is leaking like a sieve. Placed an order for a new one today.
-Belly pan has a few good bows to it. I'll straighten it out, and add some reinforcements. It definitely did it's job though.
-Transfer case is making a nice new nails on chalkboard sound. Thinking it might be the input bearing.
-Drivers rear axle has .080" run out to it, which is a lot compared to the passenger side's .015". I swapped tires, and it's still noticeable. Although, I think I have a few out of round rims too.

My junk is junk, and I really need a daily driver. :confused1

get a nice 92+ give it 3" lift and 31's with 4.10s and an AX15. perfect DD.

Ordered my sye and driveline today. For the life of me I cant decide on which steering to go with. Its either ORO U-turn or Iron Rocks OTK kit. Tell me what to get, haha.

Nothing.. ..but I did get my Currie Steering in the mail!
Finally!

I run it! I really like it.

Isn't the ORO kit not for street use?

I evaluated my Jeep today.

- need a new rear driveline
-need to take a hammer to the exhaust.. sometimes it sounds like I have a rice burner.. its kind of funny.
-After its straight, add new exhaust hangers.
-Dig into fron diff and figure out whats going on with the ARB.

I am sure there are other things. I need to do some stuff to my DD before I dig into the jeep. I have been driving it since my Optima wanted to be mr overheater..

There site doesn't mention anything about it, other then there company name being Offroadonly. Most of the steering systems out there are not street legal if that's the case since the only real difference is that bracket which others sell as well like in the MORE kit. I'm not real worried about it. I did ask Josh at Iron Rock today about his system and they use it on the street on daily drivers and they have no issues with it, have yet to chat to ORO about there kit.

I do have a thread in the modified tech section about ORO U-Turn kit vs Iron Rock OTK kit.

Finally dealt with the warmer temps my XJ's been running at. Replaced the water pump, thermostat, and most of the hoses I hadn't done before. Looks like it' srunning about 20 degrees cooler now. Hasn't gotten to 210 but once.
it'll be time to do the RMS soon. Maybe the TC cover gasket too next year.

Just finished lifting the rear of my jeep today. My shocks are way too short. I used a bastard pack from a mitsubishi/dodge Raider. With my shocks attached I am showing 13 inches from the top of the axle to the frame rail. Stock was 6 inches. Still working on posting pics. I have the front lifted 3 inches and I am showing a significant gain over the front already. May need to find some cheap 3.5 inch front springs to add my poly blocks on. Will show pics of the homebrew as soon as I can.

I have the IRO OTK system. Love it. Super solid, super beef, readily available spare joints/parts, drives better than stock.

At least thats my experience with about 2 months and 1500-2000 ish miles.

Started fixing this little problem first today thinking it would be an easy job.

I thought I had a few sections of bent tubing, which I was simply going to replace with straight ones. Instead of just bent tubing, I found that the upper portion of the down pipe is actually tweaked about 4" back. This then shoved the rest of the exhaust backwards, and created one massive headache today. It's definitely not going to be the same as it was (thank you Canopener and Warn), but at least it's semi straight again and not rubbing on anything anymore.

Rocks are so unforgiving.

XJ=Fun hooked me up with some IRO steering today. Well worth the 2 hour drive to grab it, now I can drive my XJ again :loveu: He has more parts for sale as well. Great guy, I wouldn't hesitate to buy anything from him. I will install it tomorrow since I was to busy today.

Thanks again bud!

Thanks man its nice to meet such good people through the forum, hope to wheel soon!

I am showing room for 35s now. Finished the Home brew lift. With all said and done I think it is leveling out to about 5.5 inches. I used a set of 1991 Ford Explorer shocks with the bar pin and lower bushing swapped out giving me plenty of droop in the back when flexing. Its now a real jump to get out when its parked on a rock. My door frame is now above my knee and I have to climb up to get in. LOL. I love it. Dont have enough capital for the front shocks yet. I used autozone extenders to make a little more room. My front springs are from a ford f-150 4X4 and poly spacers netting me about 5.5 inches. My rear springs are a bastard pack from Dodge/Mitsubishi Raider. I used all of the raider leaves with the overload springs. This got me about 6 inches. I used the overloads because I tow a boat occasionally. Tomorrow I will be making the top rack and looking for some 33s. So far I feel good about my $200 dollar investment. It flexes like a champ. Still waiting to post pics. I am getting a few cans of OD Green and I think I am going to dub it the Big Green Bastard. What do you think?

doing OT so I can dump some money into it.

Just got home from running around town. Epic fail on the install on my part. I have no 5/8" drill bit to drill out the knuckles for my steering, good thing I didn't take it all apart yet.
