For the record.. If you have the Certifications, And If that tire had a cut all the way through, They would have replaced it no questions asked..
But They do NOT cover Knife cuts.. If you drive in there on 4 Inflated tires, then "Technically" they haven't failed yet. America's tire doesn't offer a Certification for Feel-good measure.. I dont know why you're mad? The Jeep dealership doesn't Warranty out Alternators that still work but look like they might fail.. They tell you to come back if it DOES fail..
What you are Expected to do is Carry a spare.. From Geo metro, to Peterbilt.. Everything should have a spare tire.
you make several points, I understand where you and the tire shop are/were coming from. Fact of the matter is that based on the way the damage looked, and its placement, combined with past experience on and off of the trail. The tire was good for no more that average street use or as a spare. Now, if he had treated me a little better from the get go, and offered it up, I would have bought the tire back as a spare. (my original secret plan) but after the whole ordeal I was just looking forward to getting down the road. OR if I had a 5th tire I would have just switched it out and moved on with out even calling them.
In my experience, keeping clients happy is more about the principle of how you conduct business, and how you treat people while you doing it. If you stick you your guns and don't take circumstances into account, you loose touch with what make a strong business in the first place. Lots of HAPPY CUSTOMERS:lickout:.
I know I Know, pictures pic's. :twak: had you seen it Scott, and were told its all good to go, you would have made the same case as I did. They may not cover knife cuts for you, but when I got mine, there were no conditions as to how the damage was acquired.:dunno:
Grabbing a spare is high on the list of to do's, 305/70/16's are harder to find for a decent deal and honestly I haven't had much time to do anything to the jeep. (it needs more than a spare)
Really its about how you treat people and how you stand up to your word.
In the end, I had to FORCE there hand at making things right in my eyes.
Always remember, The customer is ALWAYS right
