guna go back and spray the 2k after i eat.

opinions: the jcr guards have sevral "breaks" in them to make the conture rather than a roll. should i:

1: try to smoth them out with while block sanding? it will take away some of the lines from the break. make it looked more rolled OR

2: Block the Break lines like body lines. it will give a stright edge look to the break lines.

i cant decide. probably guna be sanding them out tomorow.

Today I mostly fixed my sticking brake problem. Put on some new seat covers. Camo no less haha. Painted the bottom of the jeep black. Tied up some wires under the jeep. Bought stuff for the trip.

Tomorrow: put on tow hooks, front bump stops, try and figure out rear bump stops.

Keep them in - the straight edges lend themselves to the boxy look of the XJ.
I'm not sure the rolled look would feel as natural.

You doing the cut and fold on the lower quarters too?

I rocked the trimmed bumper for awhile. Looks good!

yeah i will be doing the cut and fold. need more clearance. after i got the bumper caps off. i became very apparent why. plastic hides alot :eyes:

I wouldn't cut and fold unless you have frame stiffeners, its just not a good idea. There are alot of spot welds your going to be cutting right in the leaf spring area. I want to do this mod but need to make sure things get reinforced first. Just my .02 cents.

good point J. ill have to look at things from a geometric standpoint when i get back down there. never thaught about it from that perspective.

thx

Making rear bumpstop spacers from 3x3 stock. Not much for up travel(just about 2 inches) but should keep me from killing a tire. Front bumpstops are gettin picked up from cl today. Should be all set to go by this evening for anything I take it on. Go me.

Dont get me wrong its a great mod, just dont want to weaken your uni-body, once you cut you cant go back. Your Jeep is really clean do it once and do it right. If you do a search on here there have been quite a few write ups on this, with several diffrent opinions, but get under there and look at how many spot welds your going to cut threw then make your own desicion. Thats what I did and that why mine is still stock, for now.

catch you later Jason :peace:

I think you could search for days and not find the truth behind this.

I wouldn't worry about. Having cut quite a few quarter panels.. theres not all that much in that little section to begin with.

I would go with history... many have done it.. no one has folded like a taco... go for it...

or maybe I just like to contradict Jason.. hmmm...

we will have time to bs about it tomorow. im not going to get to it tonight. ill be lucky to have the guads installed. i still need to sprayprimer on the qutar panel, reinstall the exaust. move all the internal tools/boxes to acomadate the kid, try to get the guards installed/wired, witch requires removal of the flares. witch of corse i spent a couple hr fixing yesterday...:smsoap: then reinstall everything. pack for tomorow, clean the shop, and hopfully ill have time to sleep/eat/shower befor i see you all in the morning.

:spin1:Bronze

Dave doesnt know what he's talking about. I mean look at his Cherokee it caged. :) Ask Jes in the Sierra chapter. I'm glade Dave likes to contradict me, but seriously there's a reason why they tied the spring hangers into the lower quarter panel, and its not for looks. But be my guest cut it so I know for sure if its okay. :) And hurry up and get your crap packed up so we can hit up some snow some where.
