what are your favorite cheap tires?

General Grabbber MT's
Cheap and wear nice and hold a good bead at low psi's.

$87 for 33's got ya beat :)

I will have to put in a vote for used. Although its not what you were looking for, the classifieds have the best deals, imo. Although it was local, I picked up a set of 31x10.5" BFG A/T's with 1000 miles on them, mounted on 15x8" American racing outlaw II rims for $400. Can't really beat that, pretty much a brand new set of tires.

For you guys that are running the retreads, how do they do when aired down to about 10 psi? I'm thinking of getting some but I'm concerned that they might come apart if I run them aired down a lot.
What do ya think?
Thanks,
Chad
Hi tec has a 2 year 200,000 mile warnty against seperation. i have a set of there 31s on my xj now, im also going to buy a set of 37 for my chevy. I hvae run them for a lil over a year and i am very happy with them. Best of all they are cheap!!!

The problem I've seen with retreads is that they don't balance out well. I use one for a spare and had the kid at the tire shop killing himself trying to get it to balance before finally giving up. It's fine for a spare and would be fine off road. I wouldn't recommend retreads for a DD, though.

my xj is a dd and the shop had no problems balancing them. As far as they knew they were just another set of BFGs. Im sure each person has had different experiences with them though.

I just got the 30x9.50 Mud Retreads from Hi-Tec, and use them on my DD. I paid $40 to get the mounted and balanced, and they had NO PROBLEM AT ALL. If there is a problem, i've heard multiple people say they sent out a new tire right away.
For the Price, Retreads are a great deal. I would only air down on the trail, and fill up using someones OBA on the trail.

I had one tire have a chunk about 4" around come out of the middle of the tread. I sent them a pic and they send me a replacement. It did take 2 weeks to get it and my jeep had to sit as I didn't have a spare that was close to the same size. I have around 25k on my A/T's and the are showing some wear, partially due to slight over inflation. Hint I run 28 in the rear and 32 up front on 235's to get a good contact patch and not wear the center out.
