What are you doing to your rig - the continuing saga

I think my bumpers hold up pretty well with all 3/16 plate. I also built the rear buper on this one with the receiver built into it.

The strap on the back is anchoring him to a tree and he is winching a Ford Ranger up from the side of the trail. The front suspension was fully compressed and the rear tires were both coming off the ground. I think hi wheel base stretched a good inch or two after this.

Funny, I smashed all kinds of crap with that bumper Troy, hell Jessica totaled a Plymouth neon with it :-)

Dutch bumpers aren't nearly as thick but I smash trees add rocks with it often.... It hasn't give up yet :-D

My front bumper is all 3/16 plate and I've yet to see one fail in any way. I myself have put a slight bend into the main skid from using it to ramp up obstacles but it was barely noticeable and didn't do any harm to the rest of the bumper.

There have been plenty of times where I was maxing out a winch and thought for sure the whole thing would rip off the Jeep but it has never happened. Pulling uphill, downhill, and to the side they've never failed.

Picked up a waggy front clip for my MJ today... I'll clean it up and get it ready to paint with the rest of the truck.

The thought has crossed my mind a few times. Be sure to post pictures when you get the header panel mounted. :)

Old dog, new tricks. I'll mix up some solution after work.

mike -- so teach a not-quite-as-old dog your new trick -- what kind of electrolysis you got going on. Esplain please!

Well we might just be ditching everything on sisters rig aside form the motor in tune of smaller nicer cleaner parts on a milder rig bahhhhh

Wow! You know the word when nobody else said it first. The thing I like best about Electrolysis, is that it is said to not harm the base material. I did try it another time, for just that reason.

Crusty.

I want to clean these knuckles. The cup brush is not getting them clean enough. I don't have no stinkin' blast cabinet with whatever media.

I do have a plastic bucket, DC power supply, scrap metal, and some washing soda... :)

I'll post more pictures as things move along. In the meantime, this is one of the better reads I have found on the interwebz: http://www.oldengine.org/members/orrin/rustdemo.htm

Chris just get a container and i would use 1 tblsp of 100 mule team borax to 1 gal of water ,, use a battery charger for a power supply, pos lead to sacrificial anode neg to the part your derusting ,works great just slow take the anode out occasionally and scrape the sludge of it ,, also the water can be just tossed anywhere as it is environmentally ok

gracias, old dogs. I'm gonna find something rusty to clean, soon!

Stomper's frame would definitely benefit from some surface rust removal!

Anyone gonna be looking for full setup of parts??? Like everything minus the trans/motor ?? Lolz. But seriously.

I need a new headliner and D30 diff covers like nobody's business. lol

Lol well I'll let ya know when we tear it down.
As of right now just waiting for brother to get his new ride. Then strip apart and sell hers minus the motor which we are keeping. Then start over with a late model and do a basic ~3" lift no trimming and 265's on some 16 or 17's. Just a nice smooth jeep.

So all the crap I just swapped in was a waste and has to go. Yay.

Yeah, but its good for her being a HS student to have something that's more street and less dirt. Besides, once its all done you might be able to do something other than crawl under her Jeep when you're home from work.

New ride? Does he still have the C10?

Well the rig just got new rims and 35" tires. Now the list of items to go with those size of tires will fallow. Man it looks good. Have to trim a bit more of the back lower side of the front fenders off next weekend maybe. Got hit with the flu bug and been out for the last 4 days. I need about 1" of clearance so they don't rub. O and I might have to take about 1" off the front of the rock rails. Then work on the lift, gears lockers and than and than and than.

Jdogg I'll have some geared and locked axles available soon :D

Dutch that's exactly the point. On both points lol.
And ya still has c10 but needs a 4ws for college in Montana. Likely xterra or wk.
