Cool, when you bring them up we can discuss it or you can give me a call and we'll talk it out before hand. Nothing major, just some stuff I'm too lazy to do.
FYI--
i am a body and paint guy by current trade.
currently an IT/Systems admin student.
i paint my junk with this-- http://www.montana-cans.com/
they have a fantastic array of colors.
the paint is high solids(you can feel the weight in the can vs cheaper paints)
it covers fast.
color match is always top quality.
6 cans will do average size vehicle.
it is grafitti artist paint. you can find it online or at art supply stores. Meiningers on broadway carries this line.
they offer a 10% discount on a 6 pack of cans . more ya buy the cheaper it gets.
i am thinking of spraying the MJ in a 3 color ww2 German camo scheme. i knew building all those tiger and panther tank models would pay off !
they were done in the field by the crews-no two were ever alike.
Last week's debacle with the Renix/OBDII was a wake up call in-regards to the shottiness of the wiring in my rig. Got pissed and decided to dive into the rat's nest today.
Do you guys know what stupidity looks like? Allow me to show you...
This is about 100' + feet of wire that went to absolutely NOTHING. Switches with relays that fed into junction blocks that had no function. Pretty sure this rig had 4 or 5 stereo systems throughout its life - all with equally retarded owners performing the installs. I have a feeling that this would have eventually led to a fire if left uncorrected. I'm only about 50% through the mess so far. This is only from under the dashboard. Haven't even touched the engine bay.
And the absolute pinnacle of douche-baggery that I've ever seen.....behold....
This 1-Gauge wire goes from the battery to power the whole fuseblock under the dash board.
But it's not connected to anything, you say? Take a look at that tiny red 16ga that has two splices....yeah....that's the power supply. It's pig-tailed and soldered onto the larger end. What amazes me even more is that the PO even knew how to operate a soldering iron.
And check out that wrap job.....mmmmmmm......masking tape + electrical tape. The combination of champions.
Having pulled off and repainted my old rock rails, the one at the bottom has been painted.
Then they had to be remounted. The original mount was self-tapping screws into the framerail, half of them could not be tightened to any kind of torque. They would still hold the jeeps weight but I doubt they would hold with any kind of solid hit. So:
I did some through bolts where I could. These bolt through to holes already in the framerail for the front mount. I used a piece of 1/4" steel for a backing plate.
Did the same on the lower holes on the rear mount. The upper holes are still self-tappers.
The bolts are too long, Ace only had 5" and 4" grade 8's and I needed 4 1/2".
well i was out "testing" mine and got stuck in teh mud. and you know those illegals many people complain about? like me? lol well take a guess who unstuck me.yep.
they were really nice and i thanked them profusely.eace:
overall, i d say a good friday night so far.
