What are you doing to your rig - the continuing saga

huh. From what he said, it had the ZJ computer swapped in too, unless I'm thinking of someone else.

Ah...... I see that in his Mod Tech posting about the speedo.

Went to the yard with him and I was grillin' him about how the engine swap was set up. I swear I asked him if the computer and harness were swapped in or if it was just the late model block and/or head. He said he wasn't sure but thought it was just the engine itself.

Get your info straight Pyle!!!!! Freakin' figure out what your junk is made of ya goob. Sheesh.

:D

Just the engine itself would be the far easier, more logical way to do the swap... I dunno why the PO did it the other way. Just doesn't make sense to me.

Since when do you need a functioning speedometer for the e-test? They go off the monitor hanging up by the waiting booth, not by what your speedometer says.

That's what I was told by....(ahem).....Mr. Baker. :)

Grillin =

"Hey Jim, do you know if they swapped in the 98' computer or not?"

"No"

"Oh..okay"

It was a rough day of grillin. lol

LOL... that sounds like a "very rare" grillin, not a "well done" grillin

Troy's usually the good cop, his grillin skills are rusty. ;)

LOL.......... Jim made a phunnay.

I know what I'll be doing this weekend.

so my junk was running good after doing the cleanup on some grounds, but it went back to running rough again. i ll mess with it again saturday and see if i can make it stay and maybe even weld on a better muffler. the current one has a basket ball sized hole in it.

dude relax rebuilding those is sim0ple as pie
I know, I just tend to be anxious doing something like this after the auto parts is closed. Do you know if they sell the ignition harness connectors?

so i still have my sputtering issue. Renix people got any ideas?
i can tell you i have all the grounds cleaned and re attached, except the head to the firewall, i did not clean the head end of that ground.
so it backfires out the exhaust when i try and hold steady speed at any rpm in any gear.
it does it less while accelerating. to me it feels like the timing starts to misfire as you hold steady.
last saturday, the sputtering went away for about a day,and it ran great!
that was after messing with the grounds once more.
i also have a high idle.
checked and fixed all vacuum leaks i could find.
otherwise, i am fixing the million other small things on the truck. so far i have not addressed plugs, plug wires and cap and rotor .
thanks

scott
