What are you doing to your rig - the continuing saga

did yours have a plenum gasket in it, or was it the factory timed-release plenum gasket setup with bonus ignition retarding?

something is retarded, alright... I have no idea what you're talking about, Ken.:eyes:

I'm making a really corny joke about the commonly-FUBAR plenum gasket on 5.2 and 5.9L Mopar Magnum motor intakes :eyes:

If you missed it, it probably means you are too smart for my retarded jokes.

I just like saying "retarded" in threads you're in, Ken -- it has that southy/afleck/damon sound. :D

I got it Ken. I LOL'd.

That's cause you're wicked retaa'ded, yella.

Takes up a shiteload of space in the back, doesn't it... Dutch has a design he built for jimgrms to incorporate a swingout into the stock hitch. I plan to replace the entire rear bumper on mine -- ya know, someday when I have time to breathe.

Edit -- found it:

I finished up jim's tire carrier today. It wasn't too bad to make until I had to fit the damn bumper skin back over it, and I admittedly could have don e a better job of trimming it out to clear the swing arm. Still, all in all I think it turned out great and I even managed to make sure that you can still open the glass with out having to open the tire carrier.

IIRC, Jim got the plans over at jeepforum, and Dutch tweaked it a bit -- Dutch really did some nice work there, looks damn near stock.

That is actually the second skin on that bumper. Jim wanted even tighter clearances for the tire carrier so Jim and David started with a new skin and trimmed and test fitted and trimmed and test fitted and ...

Why run the spacers ? they will just be causing you more trimming. ya wide is.good but at the same time if you're not getting.crazy.....

The main reason for me is the WJ rear shocks are mounted outboard the unibody in the wheel well. With stock backspacing and wider tires the tire will hit the shock. Right now I have a set of relocating brackets on the lower mount giving me enough room. But the brackets are weak and I dont think they will stand up to any abuse. I think I can cut off the lower mounts and weld new ones on in a different spot to make it work. Not going to run the spacers too much trimming for me.
