What are you doing to your rig - the continuing saga

When I was swapping out my CPS, I noticed the transmission mount to tranny bolts were AWOL. Looking at the witness marks on the mount, I'm thinking that after I get more bolts, I'll have to spend another $30 to set Helicoils in the aluminum tranny housing...riiiiiiiiiiight!!!!:smsoap:

It appears those m12x1.75 kits are made of the fabled unobtanium alloy. I'm hoping there is enough aluminum to hold a 12mm insert with a finer thread pitch...if I can buy one local.
you could always bore out to the next size up - hell, convert to SAE. It's just a trans mount, I wouldn't feel bad at all about boring that out to 31/64 and tapping for a 9/16-12 bolt. Worst case, go to 5/8, since they are common at the hardware store.

I've followed up on a few of those, didn't appreciate having to drill bigger holes in the stock replacement.

I'm gonna deal with the problem once, and be done with it. Besides, the coiled stainless should wear better than cast aluminum.

I lucked out! When I dropped the crossmember to inspect the threads, they were useable. Now I'm out of thread locker. :)

Here is what got me all excited:

Got some work done the xj recently. Pulled carpet and deep cleaned it all. Replaced the broken steering.column. Fixed some half assed wiring that had been done. New tstat and coolant hoses. Got washer pump working, even on the rear :) Replaces the duck tape window. Finished front end (need corner markers...anyone?) and got it all squared up. Gonna get the new axles finished up (brakesballjoints ujoints etc). its comin along great.

So they do still make those! Jeep uses those to attach the gas tank skid under the MJ's. All MJ's have holes for the skids, but only install the rivet-nuts when the order required the skid.

Are they sold locally or mail-order only?

Magnaflow high flow cat with 40 series flowmaster muffler to 2.5 exhaust tubing the rest of the way out to the bumper. Raised it two and half inches where the exhaust tip is near the gas tank and leaf for better clearance. It sounds so good. Will always run a flowmaster!

Not much here just installed new pass front window thanx to high wind and a rock on Hwy 93. Then after trying to park in the trunk of a Camery I needed to replace the swaybar ....................Next replace header panel and front bumper.

Fastenal probably has them, but CD Fasteners in FC stocks them. I have the swaging tool for a couple of the sizes.

I put a new tie rod in the stomper, welded the rock ram tabs up and connected it -- completed some wiring (again -- see HELP thread), and modified the first part of my plow parts for install -- actually drove it around the property this afternoon!

like a sherman tank pieced together with bailing wire on 37's with hydro steering....

Lmfao. so it'll do well moving snow?
might be.good since.contractor in that grid this year only has pick up trucks to plow with.
:dunno:

If I can figure out how to adapt part two of the plow to this rig (I got a deal on a plow from a 84 F250 -- significantly different from my 79), it should do the job. I cut the bumper brackets off the bumper and adapted them to the "bumper"/light frame to get it on... Rollercoaster Road usually gets plowed fairly early in the cycle...

Added in an oil/air separator into the PCV system. During the recent 68mm TB installation, I found more stuff in the manifold than I liked so... The home grown "proof of concept" installation happened and it is collecting "stuff".

Oil in the air can cause detonation and as you guys know, with a supercharger, I already have all the opportunities I need for detonation without the Heep helping...

Guess I will need to save my pennies and get a "real" separator and install it.

I am using a converted compressed air separator in this installation. You just have to make sure that there is a zero vacuum drop across the device. To get to that point, I drilled in a couple of holes in the internal filter element to eliminate the restriction to flow.

It works. Not pretty but, it does work.

lets see this week gonna put fluid back in the diff of my new axle clean it up and paint it.

continue my search for new leafs or a lift, swap out the ebrake lines for my 96 to the 98 axle and find and replace my mystery oil leak, pretty sure its the oil filter adapter orings. then hopefully getting the new axle under the jeep.
