What are you doing to your rig - the continuing saga

my dad says 37s were made by the devil and only people who like men own them because they are so evil. he said i shouldnt get them either

my 42s are slipperier than the devil. 46s are pretty ok though... as ok as a mud terrain tire with multiple inch wide lugs can be!

(anyone who's driven a deuce or 5ton in the guard/army knows how much those NDTs suck, they slide sideways better than almost anything else I've ever used)

37s are for yjs

NEVER!!!!!!!!! YJ's demand no less than 39.5's and are mch happier on 42's.

^^Of course, you all know that NDT really stands for No Darn Traction, right?

I should have them on my '48 CJ-2a but I just can't bring myself to do it...

Actually I preffered those old tires to the Michelins on the later 5ton and A3 2.5T's. I'm not saying that they didn't bring the suck once the tank trails got too muddy, but the Michelins aren't any better and they're a lot heavier come maintenance time.

I snagged a set of Michelin's off of an A3 Duece for my rig but got rid of them fairly quickly. They're just too heavy and stiff of a tire. And yeah, w/o some serious siping the Michelin's tread pattern leaves a lot to be desired.

I always said it stood for "nondirectional travel"... :roflmao:

The 46s are going on the 5ton as soon as I find some rims to fit, they look like they should have ok traction with 20k pounds on top of them. I am pretty sure I could run them entirely uninflated on the mj.

DETAILS!!! Did Matt find it???

When I was a kid I always thought I would travel around in a van with my friends and a talking dog solving mysteries. Maybe even meeting the Harlem Globetrotters one day. But that plan never played out. This was as close as I ever got, here is what I know:

Yesterday my wife and I where heading home after having lunch together and I saw a tow truck with a white XJ on the back of it. So I told my wife about the stolen one I read about on NAXJA. I started to follow the tow truck while my wife pulled up NAXJA on my phone to see if the thread was updated. Once the tow truck stopped at a dealership I verified it was the missing one and I tried to call xjtraveler to see if it had been recovered but I had to leave a message. So I called the boys in blue to come sort out the details. They got there and contacted the tow truck driver and at the same time xjtraveler called me back and told me that he hadn't heard from anyone and he still considered it stolen.

Long story short: Denver PD recovered it some time yesterday and this tow truck driver was contracted to take it to impound. He was dropping off a second car up in Westminster so that is why he was so fat up north. Xjtraveler now knows where it is and should be picking it up shortly.

So as much as I'd take the credit for finding it I really don't deserve it since I was the second person to find it yesterday. :)

In anyone in Denver is interested, High Country still carries Ballistic Fab parts and can usually get them really quick and for the same or better price than Ballistic's web site. I put in an order on Friday and they showed up today. Super happy.

I credit Matt for finding it because he was the one who contacted me, around 2pm Wednesday the 8th.
DPD called me at 7.30p. DPD never called me to give me a chance to come and get it.
Insurance looked at it today. Their estimate for repairs is just under $500. Broken window, broken steering column. Still drivable.
I haven't see her yet, but might go to the impound Friday evening to drive her to my mechanics (Tilden). Hopefully I will be back on the road next week, and back in Utah by March or April.
More to come, DPD took some of my stuff still in the Jeep for evidence. Hoepfully there is DNA and the phukers will be caught.
