So i just got done building my second XJ and im having the most unbelievebly hard time keeping it straight on the road. It wonders as if its an A.D.D dog, im running 3/4 heim steering a 6 inch mix n' match lift with drop brackets and open diffs on 35's.

What could cause this? im out of ideas and its starting to piss me off because i cant drive it more than a mile away from my house without it almost killing me.

Thanks
Garrett

did you align it? check your caster

Why not run the tie rod on top? Gonna mount the tire there? Be better mounted further forward and as low as possible.
Otherwise, I think the chopped/caged 2-doors is my favorite XJ look, lead by mj's.

The tie rod and drag link are gonna bounce. I had to run the drag link under to match the trac bar and there isn't enough room to clear the ginormous tie rods to run the tie rod over. I have heims and Dom to fix this....
As far as the tire goes....that was a LED idea.....he's trying to deal with me wanting some cargo space behind the full back seat I'm keeping...
Btw your 2 dr was a lot of the inspiration for this build....with some key changes......automatic trans, long arms, back seat.

Butt the front tires against a curb and have someone make short left/right turns of the steering wheel..... you know the drill..... look for anything loose.

Check ball joints

Check steering box for slop.

Give it to me, I'll fix it in exchange for the title. :)

Me and a buddy built a sub box for the passenger rear side panel in his 4 door XJ this weekend. It came out pretty well and was fairly easy to make. It fits an 8" sub, a JBL something. Sounds damn good for an 8".

I got bored working on other peoples "regular cars" and haven't touched the XJ in over a month so I took the center caps off of the original 89 wheels (don't know what they are called) and painted the areas black that aren't chrome and started to paint the wheels black. They look better than what I expected. Also, started put bedliner on the lower panels. Next is the tie rod. I can grab the it and rotate it back and forth. Bad ends??
