What are you doing to your rig - the continuing saga

It was for the most part ready to go. He kept a few things off of it for his new buggy...like the winch, Anti-rock sway bar, drive flanges, and the beadlocks and tires. So before I even picked it up, I dropped $3500 in new tires and beadlocks.

I've had to do a few things here and there. Fix some leaks, replace some of the suspension bushings, re-align the rear axle..it was way out of square, and I need to have new driveshafts built.

It's fun as hell though. I've been wheelin for years with 4.0's, and to step up to having a V8 with 460hp...it sure puts the grin on your face! :D

I bet. I'm wanting a V8 and auto in mine but for now will probably just do the auto and leave the 4.0 in it. I have a heavy foot and while I'm learning to wheel with a lighter foot I still tend to get heavy fast when I can't find a good line. If I had a V8 I'd probably be breaking shit like crazy where as so far all I've done is wear out a front 1310 u-joint and break a leafspring center pin or two.

I hear ya...I have to constantly tell myself to just CRAWL over stuff....not Monster truck the sh!t!:roflmao:

Yeah, but when you've got big tires and 1ton axles its really hard not to just mob through shit. Especially when you know it just has to make it back to the trailer.

Only downside is now you've got to fill up the tow rig and the jeep. Although you use less fuel in the jeep, the cost of diesel makes up for it fast.

Oh yeah. Is it at least a big block? Been there done that using the 1/2 tons to tow the jeep, not anymore. It's just too hard on them and you wind up tearing shit up. A good Chevy 454 or Ford 7.3L V8 though would be just fine, minus the 8mpg of course.

Itll completely change how i feel about the jeep and how i need to build it....

LOL -- cause your efforts to date have been primarily for DD duty? :D:thumbup: Glad you'll be able to beat the shite out of the rig and still get home Mike. How did I miss you guys at the M&G??

Well thats IF i can get something rollin here soon. It wont be best thing but beats nothing. With heather in school and takin on her bills now too im kind of limited on what i can get my hands on

I think we pulled up as you pulled out. We were in heathers lil blue jeepy so you mighta missed us. I saw you and your rig but were gone before i said hey. :dunno:

Heading out to the garage to pull the front locker/re-install spider gears for the winter. While I'm there I might as well replace the snapped axleshaft from the car crush.

This weekend Im going to start looking into a HD hinge kit for my tire carrier. That way the next time I go wheeling with you guys it doesnt fly off again and almost kill someone.

Put my grand sons to work detailing my wj no more pine tree pin stripes ))

Send 'em over here after they're done....... the BOR rig actually looks like I've 'wheeled it..... can't have that! The neighbors will get suspicious......
