What are you doing to your rig - the continuing saga

I just removed the roof rack all together.
Tire will stay where it is.

I'd say I just removed a good 100lbs from the roof.
That wilderness rack was effin heavy!

Well today i took a trip to the frame shop with my new jeep and got the front end pulled out and squared up, now its time to order parts and reassemble this beast

Fixed my f'd up axle side track bar mount today. Ready to go wheelin' again.

Sorry I couldn't help you out with that.

I'll be hitting the U-pull for electrical parts that are not so crispy.

Yeah the TCU is exclusive to the '97. Different harness connector and mounting bracket design. A '98+ just doesn't work. These '97s are a damn curse.

If you need one Jeff, I'll get the one I have to ya and get another from Hypoid for a spare as I only have the one good one. That would be most appreciated.I'm running out of other ideas.

The TCU was causing goofy gauge cluster operation on mine as well except the speedo never had a problem........ :dunno: But yeah, mine would idle ok, sometimes a high idle, but putting it into gear would cause it to run like shit and pretty much stall when trying to drive it until I swapped in a good TCU. Sounds real similar to my issue

No worries Mike. No apology necessary at all. I wasn't that worried about it since I don't drive it daily, but I had the opportunity to fix it today so I did.

Hopefully you find what you need!

Going to try and lose some weight.

I am considering doing the following to achieve around 500+ lbs

Selling my arb bumper. Replace with T&T front winch bumper.
This should remove around 3 to 400 lbs. Not sure on the exact weight difference.

These are just guestamates.
But doing this I may lose 500lbs.
Would this be worth doing?

I sold my Warn winch bullbar bumper in July in Michigan. It weighed almost 300 lbs. My drive to Michigan I was getting almost 18 miles per gallon with the bumper on. With it gone, I almost got 20 mpg. I am going back to a stock bumper to conserve weight. Would love to know what others have done too loose weight or gain mpg.

Got my rear shaft rebuilt, bought some 5125s for my front for $50 with BPEs! Got to fix my leaking transfercase. it looks like its leaking out of the shifting rod...WTF. I need new pics once i finish up my skid and whatnot.

If you are refering to the shaft that your linkage is connected, it has a ruber O-ring that may need replacing. You should be able to get at it without removing the shaft. If you cannot you will have to split the case and remove the detent to get at it.

Um, ARB bumper with a winch weighs less than 300 lbs. I'd guess just over 200 lbs. Where did you get the idea an ARB bumper weighs 500 lbs. Just over 100 at most. I have installed one. With the winch attached it did take two of us plus the guy with the wrench to do it.

But me, I'm going to pull my front springs, install the 3.5 RE's I got on sale from Serious Offroad, and put the 4"(ha-ha) skyjackers on Zac's 97, since he collapsed the 10 year old Rusty's 3"(ha-ha) I put on there. Or maybe, I'll install the JKS shackles I purchased some time ago from David, and then the front springs. Or,.....Or...

It was just a guess. I just looks huge and heavy.
I also have extra tubing connecting the sliders to the front bumper.

As I stated before. I'm not sure on the weight difference.

I don't want to take sales from TNT. I'm just saying the weight difference wouldn't be worth the time and money. On the other hand, if you like the TNT bumper better, than it's a moot point. :)

Yeah, those bumpers are probably very comparable in weight. Can't be more than 40 lbs between them.

If there were 400 lbs difference, you'd be buying shorter lift coils........ ;)

So Troy, Ya may laugh at this. Fixed the Issue I was having with the CEL AND My A/C! I'm not sure if it was when i was messing with the Relays or when I was switched one of the fuses to the correct fuse. But It's fixed and I am happy!

Also installed these bad boys!

Well no wonder you have a lil bit of vibes, look at that old one. Surprised the motor didn't fall onto the axle!!!! :D

I took off my huge roof rack.
It may sound stupid. But it seems like it already does better on the road.

I have two 9" fans on order. They will be going in the grill.
That should take care of the heat in stop and go traffic.

I was just looking at the T&T because of clearance compared the the ARB.
Now I'm thinking about just cutting and customizing my ARB for more clearance. Just a thought.

OOOOOHHHHH ya! All vibrations are gone! Other then the fact that the poly bushings vibrate the HELL out of the jeep at idle! It is getting better after driving it around a little more!
