What are you doing to your rig - the continuing saga

I just got pulled over in the Jeep driving the 3 miles or so home from my friend Nick's house. No ticket, he pulled me over because I was swerving. I was like, "Yeah I know I was swerving. Its got hydraulic steering, plus my eyes were tearing up from doing 45-50mph in sub-50deg weather." Again, he was nice enough to not give me a ticket after he confirmed my insurance and registration were valid. He was also "nice" enough to point out all the things about my jeep that make it "non-roadworthy." Fracking douche.

Installed 4.88s, dana44 in rear, with alloy axles, ARB, and trusted it. Switch from internal to external slave. Replaced shifter boots. Disassembled REP 8000 cleaned and lude it. Salved a problem with the USA Alloy front axle seals. (Larger axles where smoking the stock seals.)

Not much done so far, progress is slow due to lack of tools. Cutting 1/4" plate with a 4.5 grinder and a sawzall sucks. Im going to buy a plasma once I make some money.

Hopefully tomorrow I can get the winch plate in and everything bolted up, then I'm going to my friends house to use his bender and get the "bumper part" done. I am hopping I have it on painted by Monday.

I use an abrasive 7" blade on my skilsaw for plate and 3/16" plus metal in general -- its much better than an angle grinder, but certainly not a plasma.

bring your steel down here and I'll be happy to school you in the ways of plasma. I'll be around this weekend if you want to make a roadtrip.

I'll even let ya sit in my heep and make vroom-Vroom noises......;)

Frank- Would love to if you where closer. The chance to make vroom vroom noise is tempting though. What kind of machine do you have? I have only used the highest end miller cutter at CHC and that was awesome, but I wont have that kind of money.

Chris- That is a great idea, too bad I just spent my money on a couple more grinders and 30 4.5" cutoff discs.

I might have to come and use yours to see how it cuts, I love miller machines.
So a quick google search make that look like it is only 110 and not 220 correct?
I need mine to be 220 because my 110 setup out in the garage sucks and always trips the small breaker.

My mom complained to me about how noisy I am out in the garage cutting and grinding, I told her there is a machine that will make it way quieter and make me not out there as long... she doesn't like when I want to spend money.
I got the base all done today.
Going to be bending tube in the morning.:D

I need to use my camera instead of cell phone pics.

curious about something t2gd:
did ya look at how mounting it low will effect approach angle? sticking out a little down low effects you like its a lot up top. so curious how your angle is looking?

The furthest, lowest point up front is an inch in front of the stock crossmember. If you draw a line from the front of the tire - grill, the crossmember is well inside of it. And the profile of it is the same height as the stock crossmember.
