What are you doing to your rig - the continuing saga

So apparently being the baby in the family, and a girl, means you get all the cool crap. Family ordered her a SYE I gotta install once it shows up. And they saw these and thought they were cool so I had to install them today. Damn its cold outside. And I wasn't even workin on my own junk....:gee:

Anyway

They are a lot better looking, and brighter.

Done, thank god. Until tomorrow when I gotta pull axles and such.

Finally working on installing the Tom Woods NP242 SYE kit w/ replacement output shaft that I got from Hypoid forever ago. Then it'll be on to the Liberty 8.25 disc brake swap.

I finished up my SYE install into the NP242 yesterday. Then I did the Liberty disc brake swap onto my 8.25 rear axle. That was a very simple and easy install.

Dutch,

Do you have more information on this swap? I'm looking to do a disc brake swap and honestly this is the first i've heard of the liberty swap. Have you researched all the different swaps? ZJ, liberty... and can't think of the other was it a Gran Marquis? either way, what is your overall thought of the install? are the brakes working well enough to recommend it to someone else? Do you still have an E brake?

As for me.

I'm replacing the floor pan in a 1978 Scout, doing a spring over, and building a cage.

On the Yeep,
I'm currently going to an OTK steering w/ Frankz' steering, TNT track bar, Brian's frame stiffeners, 2x6 Rocker replacements (haven't decided if i want to go boatside) long arms, front and rear bumpers, installing a winch, hopefully finding some axles with 4.10's or 4.56's already installed.

Fixing a ton of little crap on our liberty to trade in for a tow rig.

Edit: building rear tail light housings out of 1/8" plate and going to run LED's kind of like the above pic. ^

Me? On the turn signals???
what's funny is after the late model swap they were blinking craaazy fast. once i put these lil led lights on they slowed down nice and slow. i think the duration.and pause is slightly longer than factory.

Got the cut n fold done on my sisters rig to eliminate the rusty corners. Holy kerap that was some nasty rust.
Went ahead and painted it black per her request until it gets painted down the road.

I didn't really do much research. I saw on write up either here or on JeepForum. When the parts came up for sale on here a few months back I jumped on them. They sat on a shelf until finally got up the itch to see how it would work.

The liberty rear axle is an 8.25 so all I had to do was pull the shafts, remove the e-brake cables, remove the lines from the wheel cylinders, and then remove the entire drum brake/backing plate assembly.

I then bolted the disc brake/backing plate assembly on using the original studs and nuts already on my axle. I bent the hard line a little bit to get a better position for the caliper soft line to meet up with it. Brake line fittings were already the correct size and thread pitch. I did have to tweak the driver side soft line a bit where it comes off the caliper to clear the leaf spring better. I think I'm going to get another passenger side one to use on the driver side, it should work great.

No e-brake yet, but as with most of these swaps I should be able to just modify my stock cables and use a small cable clamp to make them work.

It would probably be a good idea to remove the studs from the axle shaft and go to longer ones, I think front studs would work. With the short acorn nuts my spacers use they are flush, with no thread coming past the nut.

Yes, braking was improved a decent amount. I think I spent 100$ on the parts and my drums were trashed anyways.

Dropping the heep off tomorrow for Frank to do my stiffeners and rock sliders :D

Just went up to Denver last night and picked up some 4.5" coils.

Getting some 3.5" leafs from Yella sometime soon.

Just need some shackles now.
