I didn't really do much research. I saw on write up either here or on JeepForum. When the parts came up for sale on here a few months back I jumped on them. They sat on a shelf until finally got up the itch to see how it would work.
The liberty rear axle is an 8.25 so all I had to do was pull the shafts, remove the e-brake cables, remove the lines from the wheel cylinders, and then remove the entire drum brake/backing plate assembly.
I then bolted the disc brake/backing plate assembly on using the original studs and nuts already on my axle. I bent the hard line a little bit to get a better position for the caliper soft line to meet up with it. Brake line fittings were already the correct size and thread pitch. I did have to tweak the driver side soft line a bit where it comes off the caliper to clear the leaf spring better. I think I'm going to get another passenger side one to use on the driver side, it should work great.
No e-brake yet, but as with most of these swaps I should be able to just modify my stock cables and use a small cable clamp to make them work.
It would probably be a good idea to remove the studs from the axle shaft and go to longer ones, I think front studs would work. With the short acorn nuts my spacers use they are flush, with no thread coming past the nut.
Yes, braking was improved a decent amount. I think I spent 100$ on the parts and my drums were trashed anyways.
