what needs to be changes ? we have a 94 trail only xj that dropped some parts out of the oil pan (lol) . we have a extra very good running 90 non-ho model motor . looking to try to swap this weekend .

i was going to take everything off the 94 ..then put it back on the 90 .

I think the major changes from the 90 to the 94 are the head. You could just use the bottom end on the 90 and have the head of the HO.

keep the intake manifold, exhaust manifold, flywheel/flex plate, and all sensors from the '94 and transfer them to the '90. Everything else should be "functionally equivalent"-- if the transmissions are both auto or both manual you shouldn't have trouble, but if one was stick make sure you get/remove the pilot bushing before changing flywheel/flexplate.

Will it run? Yes... will your exhaust and head ports line up? No... this would be a stupid swap...not only would u loose power from ports not lining up and everything breathing properly... you'll loose power by not running the ho... like swapping a ho in a renix... does no good if you don't change everything else... do it right... 91-99 motor only...

you giving me a 91-up motor ?? if not , moneys tight . got to use what you have sitting here . a very good running 90 model motor .

If you just have bottom end issues then I would swap just the bottom end over and keep your 94 head and injection system. The renix head is garbage and you will notice a significant power loss by running the renix stuff.

i was thinking this too . motor in the xj has a new head on it . thanks
